We were honored with' the
presence of Mr Wylie Quattle-
baum last Friday and we are
hoping Wylie will join us as he
is a Senior
Miss Nancy Weir who is at-
tending school at Custer City
came oyer Friday evening she
was at school only a short while
but we were all glad to see her
as she attended school here two
years She says Mr Baggett
has the students at Custer step-
ing to his music
The students are conducting
Chapel exercises Last Wednes-
day morning the Juniors and
Freshmen gave an excellent pro-
gram Miss Ida Haynes was visiting
school Monday
Senior Squibs
Most of the students taking
Public Speaking are discovering
that they are neither a Demos-
thenes nor a Cicero
The high school girls have
been learning to make baskets of
broomcorn and bright colored
thread Some of them will be
pretty as well as useful
The Seniors in Civics class
think they know enough to be
President of the United States
Senators or some other impor-
tant government official
We have heard of absent mind-
ed College Professors but we
have some absent minded Sen-

The Juniors and Freshmen en-

neighborhood where Rev Davis
filled his regular appointment
at 11 a m and 3 p m Rev Davis
reports good services and good
attendance and all glad to see
him and Mrs Davis at this their
first appointment since their
vacation
S B Jaekson and wife of Iowa
who have been visiting relatives
here for some time started Tues-
day on their way to Pheonix
Arizona where they will visit
for a while Mr and Mrs Jack
son are on a six months vacation
F- P Ramsey who is teaching
at Uammon this year was up
Saturday and left an order for
‘bills for his big farm sale next

Dr W S Wilder went to
Woodward Saturday to meet
Mrs Wilder on her return from
Nebraska where she had been
visiting and transacting business

in Chapel
The President of the Junior
class Waildo McFarland has been
absent the last week of school

The H E C girls are learning
to sew buttons and patch’ They
seem to think it will be useful to
them someday
The Commercial Geography
students are just doing fine If
Mrs Williams dosen't quit teach-
ing so much her students will be
as wise as she is
Tbe other day the Geometry
teacher was trying to explain a
proposition to her class After
some discussion Dennis said
‘‘Oh! does angle ABC equal
angle DEF” Teacher “Yes
yes now you have caught it”
Even tho it is a little hard to
catch the students are doing
fine
Freshmen
The General Science class ex-
amination Monday was very
much enjoyed— Prof Knight
The English I class is study-
ing the “The Lady of the Lake”
and they seem to find it very in-
teresting We are for anything for the
good of the school but anything
harmful and foolish we are
against
It takes everybody to make
the best of school
No other place quite equals

We of the Leedey High School
are all looking forward to the
beginning of the basket ball sea-
son Arrangements are being
made to secure all needed athlet-
ic equipment
A number of experienced play-
ers are back this year on
both boys and girls teams and
with the aid of Mr Knight our
coach we are expecting this to
be a big vear for athletics
Most all the boys in the Voca-
tional Agriculture class attended
the fair at Elk City All report
good exhibits in both livestock
E W FORBES Republican Candidate for Coun-
ty Clerk of Dewey County has been a resident
of Oklahoma for many years and knows the vicissi-
tudes that assailed the pioneers of the Territory
He filed on his place in 1893 and has-been engaged
in farming teaching school and ' the insurance busi-
ness for many years except nine years in civil service
work five of which were spent as postmaster at Fay
' Mr Forbes is a Mason has a college education
and has held a first-grade certificate he is a compe-
tent bookkeper and is thoroughly conversant with the
conditions of this county Mr Forbes has the dis-
tinction of having been a student all his life and is
thoroughly conscientious In event of his election
the taxpayers of Dewey County will always find him
on the job

characteristics are a sign of de-
generacy and moral decay

leave a job unfinished or a duty

The school is the one tax sup-
ported institution whose whole
business is to prevent fire care-
lessness poverty insanity hos-
pital needs anarchy riots and
all other social and civil diseases
A number of outlying schools
wishing to affiliate their course
of study with the Leedey school'
have requested that Leedey High
publish their course of study
A number of these schools sup-
plement the ir work by attend-
ing Leedey High to receive their
credits The subjects being
