THE SUNDAY BANNER
There will be a “funny” paper
next Sunday but it was not possible
to get one this week
POINTED PARAGRAPHS
By Re Walter Douglass
e e e- e
In launching out onto the sea of
Sunday morning journalism the Daily
Banner does not take the step with-
out having given the matter consid-
erable thought and careful analysis
So far as we have been able to learn
the Daily Banner ia the only news-
paper published in this state in a city
of under ten thousand population that
prints a complete edition every day
in the week It is done in some of
the larger cities but not all of then
The strain and the extra work at-
tached to getting out the Saturday!
evening paper and then putting out
another larger edition around three
o’clock in the morning is a feat that
not every newspaper force will tackle
tackle
This feature of the Daily Banner
has been msde possible not only by
the loyal support and pride and work
which the entire force — mechanical
and editorial and advertising — has
puf into its daily tasks hut by the
unswervering support of the mer-
chants and business men of the city
Their patronage has been something
that the Daily Banner has appreciated
ever since the very first issue was
printed There is no more loyal set
of business men in the country and
none who are firmer believers in the
value of printers ink than the Dun-
can business men
As this article is written before the
Sunday edition is off the press it ts
impossible to anticipate and to apol-
ogize for any shortcomings There
’ will be some there is no doubt of that
but we promise they will be remedied
as soon as they are discovered
Come ye blessed ef my Father and
inherit e kingdom prepared for you
from the fonndetion ef the' world
The Lord is my light end my salve
tiun whom shall I fear?
The fear of the Lord the begin
ning of wisdom -
Walk in the light as He is in ths
linght and the blood of Jesus Christ
His son will cleane you from all sin
The soul that sinneth it shall dia
Thero is tharafora now no condom
nation to these who ere in Christ
Jesus who walk not after the flesh
but after the spirit
Brethern now ere we the sons of
God and it doth net yet appear what
we shall ba( but we know that when
He shell appear we shall be like Him
for we shall see Him as He is
Whatso-ever ye ask in My nams
that will I do that tha Father be gior-
ified in the Son If ye shall ask any
thing in my name I will do it
Blessed ere the pure in heart to
they shall see God
Him that comets to me I will te
ae wise cast out
Though your sins be as scarlet
they shall be es white as snow
Be not deceived God is not mock-
ed whatsoever a man soweth that
shot! he also reap For he that soweth
to the flesh shall of the flesh rasp
corruption but he that soweth to ths
spirit shall of the spirit reap life er
erlasting
Stand fast therefore in the liberty
wherewith Christ hath made us free
and ha not entangled again with ths
yoke of 'bondage
Wherefore seeing we ere also com-
passed about with so great a cloud
of witnesses 1st us lay aside every
weight end the sin which doth sc
easily beset us and 'let us run with
patience the race that is sst before
us 1 ‘
Let brotherlove continue
Today if you will hear His votes
harden net yonr hearts
Study te shew yourselves approvsd
unto Cod a workman that naedath
not te be ashamed
" He that would eonvert a sinner
from the error of his way has savsd
soul from death and has ceversd
1 a multitude ef sins
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God
with all thy heart and with ell thy
mind and with all thy soul and thou
shalt lore thy Neighbor as thysslf
For this cause I bow my knees un-
to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
ef whom the whole family in heaven
and in earth is named that Ha would
grant unto you according to the
riches ef His glory te be strengthen-
ed with might by his power ia the
Saner men
That Christ may dwall in you
hearts by faith that ye being rooted
and groundad in love' may be able
to comprehend yrith all saints the
breadth and length and height end
depth end to know the love of Christ
which passeth knowledge
Now unto Him who is able to do
exceeding abundant 'hove all that
are able to ask or think according
to the power that worketh in us
Unto Him be glory in The church
by Christ Jesus throughout ell age
world without end amen

Summer is with us again It is almost as inconvenient to get along without
ice in the summer as it is without heat in the winter We want to furnish you
with ice
ICE COUPON BOOKS '
' By procuring a one-ton coupon book you can save 25 cents on every dollar's
worth of ice purchased These books can be obtained by calling our office or
from any one of our ice wagon drivers
1 ft ’
' ' ‘ SHOULD BE NO SHORTAGE IN idE WEIGHTS
i ’ '
Every customer should receive full weight The drivers of our wagons
have positive instructions to see that every patron receives full weight Our
patrons will confer a great favor upon us if they will see that they get the full
amount of ice which they pay for and report promptly to us’ by phone or in
person any shortage We do not believe that we hpve a man in our employ who
would be guilty of attempting to perpetrate such a petty larceny fraud but
should such a man happen to work into our organization the quicker we find
him out the sooner his place will be filled by a more worthy man
’

WE EMPLO Y HOME MEN
We try to employ home men in all departments We believe it our interest
as well as the interest of the city and our patrons to do so We will not retain
in our employ any one who is not courteous and obliging to the public for there
must be the heartiest co-operation between the public service companies and
the public whom it serves We will be pleased to have reported to our office
any lack of courtesy in either our lighting or ice department
SMALL BOYS CAUSE LIGHT TROUBLE
Small boys with target guns and “nigger-shooters” think it great sport to
break the little glass insulators upon which the wires are fastened They mean
no real harm yet all sorts of trouble is occasioned in this way We must find
a way to stop this practice We believe if our patrons who have boys will ex-
plain to them it will help much When you see a boy destroying the insulators
if you will phone our office we will immediately make an investigation and
will have a talk with the parents of the boys
i
We are doing our best to give service and respectfully invite your assistance
