A meeting of the communi-
ty League of Love county has
been called for Friday night
January' 18th The League
was organized some time ago
but during the busy season
those who were members did
not work much at it but now
that the busy season of the
year has passed it is up to the
citizens of the town and coun-
ty to get busy and do some-
thing for the town and county
It has been reported to the
County Council of Defense of
Love County that people who
have been refused more than
100 pounds of flour at one
time by Marietta merchants
have gone to Gainesville and
bought as much as 1000
pounds at a time and hauled it
to their homes in Love County
We do not envy Gainesville
any trade they might pull
from Love County and away
from Marietta merchants when
it is done in a legitimate man-
ner but when our merchants
refuse to sell a farmer more
than 100 pounds of flour at
one time in an effort to coop-
erate with our government in
conserving the food supply
and also by request of the
State Food Administrator and
then for Gainesville merchants
to sell the same food supplies
in large quantities which the
Marietta merchants are enti-
tled to sell as requested by
the government in small quan-
tities it is not right We
would not like to say that the
merchants of Gainesville tak-
en as a whole are slackers
but it does seem that the ones
who have been guilty of the
above which has come to the
knowledge of the County

best lecturer-entertainer in the
person of Wood Briggs Mr
Briggs has been for the past

But since the Great War has
involved the United States he
is giving his time to patriotic

will miss a great treat
