Announcements
We are authorised to announce J
C Graham as a candidate for dele-
gate from the 90th Recording District
to the Constitutional Convention sub-
' ject to the action of the Democratic
party
To the Voters
I respectfully submit my can-
didacy to the people of the 2Gth
Recording District for delegate to
the Constitutional convention
subject to the action of the Dem-
ocratic party
I have heretofore expi eased my
views on some of the provisions I
think should be incorporated In
the constitution of our state and
I shall from time to time as occa-
sion demands present my views
upon all questions which are lia-
ble to arise in the formation of
our constitution
If elected to this high trust it
will be my purpose to faithfully
and conscienciously represent the
interest of all people in the 2Uth
Recording District
J C Graham
It is a fact deeply regretted by
us that the meaning we intended
to convey in an editorial last
week was misconstrued by some
of our farmer friends and mem-
bers of the Farmers Union In
attempting to convey the idea
that in our judgment any delegate
that might go to the constitu
tional convention as ail Independ-
ent would have no prestige there
or have no voice in matters that
were of vital importance to the
26th recording district some peo-
ple inferred from the article that
we were saying no farmer had
any business at the convention or
had the ability to go as a dele-
gate Such was not the ease
The more impartial and conser-
vative members of the Farmers
Union in this district know very
well that we have never by word
or deed tried to throw any obsta-
cle in their way to Linder the
progress of the great and good
work being done by them But
on the other hand we realize that
there are men among tlieir ranks
just as capable of assisting in
that great and important work of
framing a constitution for tlie
new stute as can be found among
any class We also realize that
their unions throughout this part
of the country are made up of
the very brain and sinew of the
country However we are still
of the opinion that fcny person
who goes to that convention to
assist in framing the organic law
must declare himself to be of
some political faith
There seems to have been
some misunderstanding on the
part of some of our people of an
editorial which appeared in last
week’s issue It was not the in-
tention of this paper to say any-
thing which could in the slight-
est degree be offensive to any
democratic voter To the mem-
bers of any other political organ-
tion than democrats we have no
apologies to make for we be-
lieved and still believe that the
movement mentioned is antag-
onistic to the democratic party
We believe also and intended to
say last week that any man in
this district who goes to demo-
crats and asks them to forsake
their political convictions does so
for the purpose of disrupting the
democratic party or for the pur-
pose of grinding a political ax
Such men are either republicans
or political Ismaile whose hand
are against every man politically
and againat whom every man’s
hand should be turned Any
man who is entitled to the euf-
ieragee of the people of this
dictriot either for past services
or present ability can secure full
recognition within the ranks of
the party Our district ie demo-
cratic and we believe that the
constitutional convention will be
democratic If it ahould be we
do not want to be misrepresented
thereby a man of no political
faith We want a man there
who will be in full accord with
the delegatee from the other
Territory districts for such a
man only can wield any Influence
in that convention An inde-
pendent would have no standing
with either party in the oonven-
vention unless he affiliated with
one or the other and then he
would oease to be an independ-
ent We have heard it suggested
that some one not connected with
this office was responsible for our
expressions last week but we
desire in this connection to dis-
avow such authorship and to
state that this office alone is re-
sponsible To any democrats
who misoonstrued the intention
we extend ample apologies ‘
The Farmer Union clearance house
opened here some time ago under the
able management of D Anderson
with an able corps of competent as-
sistants has been successful beyond
their most sanguine expectations
The eltisens of the town are fast
learning that this la the place to buy
country produce of every kind and at
prices just the same as they would
pay the producer With a view of
catering to the town trade the man-
agers will soon install a telephone
and a deliver- wagon that their many
customers in town can order goods
from the Farmers Union clearance
house and in a few minutes have
their orders in their homes without
extra charge Thcirstore is constant
ly full of potatoes fruits watermel-
ons peas canteloupes chickens
butter eggs in fact everything that is
raised on the farm and in the garden
The farmers of the 26th recording
district are also finding the clearance
house to be of great advantage to
them in disposing of their produce
When they come to town with a load
of any kind of produce they can rest
assured that they can drive directly
to the clearance house and dispose
of their produce at the very highest
market price thereby saving consid-
erable time and trouble to themsel-
ves in bunting up a buyer
