Red River is at ail exceedingly
low stage at the present time and
yet there is over five feet f
water in the channel north of
Denison and that depth of water
extends over a good area With
the drifts and snags removed
there is no reason at all why the

There was great rejoicing in
Marietta this week when news
was received that Indian Terri-
tory and Oklahoma had at last
been admitted to statehood A
great number of our people were
disappointed by not getting dou-
ble statehood but they prefer
anything to the present condi-
tions An exhange eaya that it is
rather discouraging for a news-
paper man on the first of the
month to be presented with his
bills (for merchandise and gro-
ceries purchased the previous
month from a home dealer) on
stationery printed by a foreign
firm That merchant and grocer
would likely feel a little raw if
