giving the name of Kathrine
Murphy driving an expensive
automobile and wearing an ex-
pensive attire of clothing has
been arrested by the police of
Cushing She is also wanted in
Pawnee Tulsa and Sapulpa it

listments to the regular army
during the month of January
according to a statement issued
there by the recruiting office
435 of which were for 3-year
periods The infantry and field
artillery claimed the majority of
the enlistments
Civil service examinations at
Tulsa through which the post-
office department expects to fill
positions for postmaster at Key-
stone and Jenks will be held at
Tulsa on March 12 and 16 res-
pectively the local office has

ed with the Oklahoma State Cor-
poration Commission in 1920
208 cases were heard and closed
at an expense to the state of
$13886952 according to figur-
es compiled in the office of the
secretary of the commission
Seventy-four cases were uncom-
pleted January 1 it is shown
while the number of cases with-
drawn and settled by stipulation
totaled 32 One case was dis-
missed because of lack of juris-
diction Tulsa county officials and the
County engineer Dan Patton of
Tulsa predict that Tulsa coun-
ty’s system of hard-surfaced
roads will be on the way to com-
pletion by late next summer if
not completed then in view of
arrangements being made to re-
sume road work on a large scale
this spring Included in the pro-
gram are: The Tulsa-Bixby
road a distance of 7 miles an
8 mile stretch of unpaved sur-
face on the Tulsa-Broken Ar-
row road 13 miles of the Tulsa
Skiatook road 2 miles on the
Dawson road and 8 miles on the
Ozark trail to Owasso The
Tulsa-Jenks and Sand Springs-
Keystone roads will easily be
completed this summer it is
believed In all over 50 miles
of uncompleted contracts are
scheduled for attention early in
the spring

house has passed the Carter bill
authorizing the sale of the re-
mainder of the coal and asphalt
deposits of the Choctaw and the
Chickasaw nations The bill is
ready to go to the senate At
three sales held during the past
two and a half years 94 tracts
were sold for $1980074 Re-
maining unsold are 423 tracts
worth $11273716 These tracts
probably will be sold at public
sales held at frequent intervals

HAWKINS GUILTY
Miami Record-Herald:
William R Hawkins was to-
day Wednesday found guilty of
the murder of O B Vanderpool
a detective from Joplin and sen-
tenced to life imprisonment in
the state penitentiary
The jury was out 84 hours to
the minute The case went in-
to the hands of the jury Satur
day night at 10:35 o’clock At
10:35 o’clock this morning the
jury reported in the court room
The verdict returned by the
jury ends one of hardest-fought
legal battles in the history of
the criminal court docket here
The state had contended since
the case went into the hands of
the jury that a verdict of guilty
