It is a pity that Bartlesville

business men of that town

The tin bucket brigade is

Well, boys, if that be true,

it up?
TI A're are towns in the
.states that have been finished
for a half century, but in
the B. 1. T. it is different.
They are all growing and
real'estate is humping itself
in value. All because, as
Senator Stewart says, this
[country alone will support
'oil,01 >().(!<Ml people.
Messrs W. D. Todd, presi-
dent of the Oklahoma A:

ruon, secretary of the same,
and Horace M. Adams are
out oil u trip over the line of
the road. When they get

country will feel like a boy
with new pantaloons.
It has been stated on good
authority that a white man
kissed a negro woman on the
streets of Chelsea, recently.
Well, now what had that
coon done to be thusdisgruc-
ed in public? Colored Indies
should be more careful of
the reputation they bear
than to |>ennit white trash
to kiss them in public.
The town of Bartlesville
has at last awoke to a reali-
zation of the fact, that it
needs the Oklahoma it Cher-
okee Central, and now wants
the promoters of the road to
come and see them. The
sai-d promoters went once,
and received the icy stare,
.and now, it seems they have
decided that Dewey is the

One notable feature about
I the expressions of every Re-
publican statesman that vis-
its the Territory is that he
invariably f a v o r s single
statehood for the two territo-
ries. Now the reason is
plain. They get their cue
from Washington, and that
being said, they have told all
they know and all they care
of the Indian country. Yet
there are I)emocratie editors
in this fair land that join in
the song, when they know it
means the foisting of Re-
publican policies upon this
country for an indefinite pe-
riod. It strikes the Com-
mercial as the veriest fool-
ishness.
Territory was more than the
entire population of Nevada.
The opinion of the Senator
seems to be made for politi-
cal expediency. IIis sage
patch is not as good a state
today as halt'of the Territory
is, and yet he thinks the lat-
Iter is not prepared for state-
hood. If the Republican
gang of carpet baggers are
pt rmitted to have free ivin
here much longer this coun-
try will be so far from state-
hood that ilie President will
have to appoint a civil com-
mission to prepare ii for
statehood and self govern-
ment, oven as the Filipinos
are now being prepared.
Mr. Chipper has moved his

this plnce, and has opened a meat
market in the Sharpe building
adjoining the Commercial office.
Business is like an omnibus, al-
ways room fur one more.
i Chelsea is winning the rep-
utation of being the town
that "does tilings," and she
deserves it. She was the
pioneer town in the Oklaho-
ma ifc Cherokee Central deal,
and now she is the first town
iu the history of Indian Ter-
ritory development to give a
bonus to a coal mine, and in
doing so she has eliminated
the "company store" prob-
lem and curse from the busi-
ness of the town, and turned
the miners loose to trade
where ever they wish. It
was a good move, and the
people, of Chelsea should
shake hands with themselves
on the consumation of the
deal.
Senator Stewart while in
Indian Territory gave out an
interview stating that he fav-
ored single statehood. Well,
the time was since Nevada
has been a state when the
