Hagen chielf of police of Slick who
was Bhot and severely wounded on
a county road two miles north of
Okmulgee last night will recover
attending physicians stated today
(According to the story told by the
wounded officer at a local hospital
today accompanied by his wife he
drove 'to Okmulgee to investigate re-
cent robberies at Slick
He and Mrs Hagan were on their
way to Slick 'when they saw a car
standing across the road Chief
Hagan got out to Investigate A
man behind the 'ear opened fire the
first shot going wild but the second
penetrating Ills light hip Chief
Hagen returned the fire and his
assailant and another man who was
with him fled he said Mrs Hagen
drove her husband back to Okmul
gee Chief Hagen expressed the be-
lief that the attack was an attempt
to “get me out of the way by men
connected with the robberies at
Slick"
