The stock is unusual also in the wide range
of prices- worthy papers at from 5c to $3.50

Opie Read Explains.
The following letter, which ex-
plains itself, (hat been tece'vtd by
Mr#. Oate# of thi# eit;:
Newkirk, 0<la., Nov. 21, 1900.
My Dear Mr#. Oate#.
Upon reaching here last night I war
d sperately #urpri#ed to find that 1
bad pa##ed through tbe town wherein
I was to lecture. The dates bad been
transposed and I was not aware of the
fact. Thi fault lay with my li#t, and
was not, I assure you, an error ot my
own. After mutt woeful travel, from
Perry on ,i freight train, I lay on tbe
sidetrack—as freight—during two
hjurs in Ponca, in cold stoiage, I a -
sue you; and from tbe station there I
hid a message sent to tbis town.
I am deeply #orry that tbe mistake
occurred, and. I earnestly hope that
you will forgive me lor a mishap,
w i ich, let oie agam affirm, was not
caused by my own neglect If I ever
have the good fortune to meet you
personally, I will apologize with every
mark of willing contrition.
Respectfully,
Opie Kkad.
