We have knockers it seems in
this town on our public schools
but the aforesaid school will
open on schedule time pursue
the even tenor of its way and
close satisfactorily next spring
in spite of the knocker whose lit-
tle cudgel is out and at work
The real patrons of the schools
have faith in the faculty and
principal and propose to hold up
the teachers’ hands during the
ensuing year Our schools will
prosper only by such a course
The Torrens land system of
land record and transfer has
been suggested for the twin ter-
ritories This system was first
introduced in Massachusetts
and works admirably It simpli
ties the transfer of land greatly
and would mean a great saving
in matters abstracting

trees In the colonies was in Massachu-
setts for in 1637 Watertown was mov-
ed to pass a vote at town meeting
"to mark the shade trees by the road-
side with a ‘W’ and fining any per
son who shall fell one of the trees thus
