Mrs Katherin Baird of Joplin
aged GO years fell against a stove
Tuesday and was fatally burned
When found by her daughter-in-law
she was laying on the floor in

bill seems doomed The one-
state idea of Arizona and New

cus nominee for the senatorship
in Missouri is charged with get-

smacks strongly of boodle It is
likely that nothing will be done
against him but a rumor says
enough republicans will bo found
for Cockrell upon the vote going
before the joint meeting of the
legislature which occur rs next
week
It seems that the good church
friends of W S Deatherage as
mentioned elsewhere the latter
of whom is in a private sanitari-
um in Kansas City is improving
slowly and that his recovery will
be due largely to the persistent
efforts of the membership of the
Christian church where he has
been engaged A little over a
year ago he was pastor of the
church here
Says the Chetopa Clipper:
Jesse Amos cleaned out a well
west of Baxter Springs and
found a pick that was left by the
workmen 30 years ago when they
struck such a heavy flow of water
