Monday
afternoon the Quinlan
ball team went to Mooreland and
played that team in one of the best
games of tho season.
Both teams were in fine shape and
played a shut-out game up to the 5th
inning when Quinlan sot a score, an
other was added to this in the 7th
and iu the 8th Q linlan tallied two to
Mooreland'* one and in the9th Moore-
land scored another, making it 4 to 2
at the finish.
Mooreland has played a winning
game this spring all along the line
and our boys feel jubilant over their
victory.
The game was played with few er-
rors on either side aud there was no
wrangling or ill-feeling at any time
which is so common in a closely con
tested game, The best of ftelingpre-
vailed and our boys are loud in their
praise of the treatment accorded them
by Mooreland.
A return game will be played at
Quiulan next Wednesday and every-
one should take an interest in the
spart and entourage the boys by their
help and presence, aud show the visi-
tors a royal time while they are here.
CRiiCt'S TRIBUTE
TOmOTHERHOOD
Following a prediction set in many
other states in paying tribute to
motherhood and mother love, Gover-
nor L^e Cruoo has designated Sunday
May 14, the day set apart iu many
other states, as Mother's Day.
The governors proclamation is as
follows:
To honor the memory of departed
mothers and enrich the ever ennobline
lives of those who are living,an Inter-
national Honor Day" has deen des-
ignated in the civilized nations of tho
world. The general object of Mother's
Day is a simultanious observance ol
the love and gratitude mrn women
and children and nations owe to their
good mothers. The special object isrm
to uplift motheihood.and give happi-
ness to the beft mother that ever lived
YOUR MO'l HER.
Through loyalty to this beneficent
institution in behalfof the tender love
and devotion our people should impart
to the spirit of motherhood: and in
condemnation of the great movement
designed to rnhauce the quality of
the relationship ties that bind father,
mother, sister and brother, I recomme
nd a proper and fitting observance
througout the state May 14th, the day
set apart as Mothers' Day and I trust
thht on that day every citizen will
w<ar a white carnation, the emblem of
its observance,
