THE STAR HELENA OKLA
COST OF SELLIR8 CXEAM
The question is frequently asked
”Is it more profitable to sell but
ter cream or cheese from the
farm direct to the consumer than
to sell to the grocer 1” This is
a question that cannot beansweerd
satisfactorily because there are
so many things that determine
what will be the net profits such
as nearness to market class of
customers natural facilities for
produceing and keeping dairy
products
- Quality is the key note to the
successful marketing of dairy
products People always have
and always will pay a premium
for quality therefore it is useless
to expect to market dairy products
successfully unless those products
are of good quality pnd when
I say ’’good” I mean better than
the average Unfortunately it
often happens that producers of
good dairy products do not always
find a good market but this does
not signify that there is not a de-
mand for tbe product at a good
price but simply means a lack of
business ability on the part of the
farmer in secureing a good mat
ket He to often depends upon
hia immediate community for
a market for his products and is
too'often satisfied to sell to the
middleman and the grocery store
In this day and age of the par-
cel post even pershable products
can be sent great distances for a
few cents making it possible to
seil such iroducts as butter
and cheese direct from the farm
to the consumer There are hun-
dreds of people in our towns and
cities who be only to glad to get
dairy products direct from the
farmer if the farmers who have
these products for sale would in
sure them good uniform products
Oidinarilya grocery store says
the Oklahoma Farmer receives
anywhere from 5 to 7 cents for
hmdleinga pound of butter made
from cream that is even inferior
to that from which the farmer
made his butter for the grocer
Why not let the farmer keep this
profit for himself?

We give below what our home
folks say about the manager of
The Helena Produce Co We do
this because for some reason un-
known to us you have some fear of
not getting a square deal We
know full well that every one real
izes the importance of more than
one Produce Cream Station If we
give you a fair deal we are entitled
to a share of your buisness we
also beg to say that the length of
time a man lives in a town doesn't
make him honest or dis-honest
We court the closest investigation
and refer you to any one at Oak-
wood Okla We feel that we are
worthy of a trial at least '
Respectfully
