parents near Dustin at five o’-
clock p m in a twilight cere-
mony The bride was attired in a white
two-piece dressmaker suite ac-
cented with blue accesories and a
white hat She carried a white
Bible topped with a white carna-
tion corsage tied with white satin
streamers She was attended by
Miss Clara Lou Spear who served

ding Anniversary Sunday March
11 at their home with “Open
House’’ from two to four p m
The house was decorated with
flowers in season
The dining table was covered
with a cream Irish lace cloth over
gold which was a gift from their
two grandchildren Joyce and Ed-
die ' Bell of Ethiopia The center
piece was a gold basket filled with
gold and white flowers artistical-
ly arranged a gift from Mrs Bun-
dy Robinson and Mrs Pansy Bec-
ker long time friends of the fam-
ily The centerpiece was flanked
by white tapers in crystal can-
dalabras and a gold four tirred
cake topped with a white arch of
wedding bells and leaves center-
ed with a miniature bride and
groom baked and decorated by
their daughter Mrs Bill Biddle
Twin bouquets of gold and white
vasesinof flowers decorated the
buffet

year old grandaughter of Tulsa
presided at the guest register

ing and led the lesson discus-
sion which was entitled “Vir-
turea in Discipleship’’ Mrs George

Luke 14 26-30 and led in prayer

turned from a ten day vacation in
SouthernTexas They spent sev-
eral day in McAllen Texas and
across the border at Reynosa
Mexico They visited Mrs Tenny
Pickett in Mission Then to Brown-
sville and across the border to
Mata Moros Old Mexico They
also visited Mrs Frank Meadors
at Harlengen where they viewed
her beautiful Orange Grove and
Corpus Christ! then to Port Isa-
bell Port LaVaca and Aransas
Pass where they visited with Mr
and Mrs Hal Parks They also
visited friends in Houston and San
Antonio and viewed the Alamo
and many other attractions there
No doubt the girls must have
visited the famous Joskies the
seeond largest department store
in the world '

Promoted to Sergeant
Miss Virginia L Fain daugh-
ter of Mr and Mrs Bill A Fain
of route 1 Dustin received a
promotion from corporal to ser-
geant February 2 at the Marine
corps air station in Kaneohe Bay
Hawaii Captln Patricia Maas
Commanding officer of the wo-
mens marine detachment made
the presentation Sgh Fain is a
Dustin high school graduate with
the class of 1952 She attended
business college in Tulsa after
graduation and was employed in
Tulsa when she and her sister
Eula Rea joined the marine corps
June 6 1953 and took basic train-
ing at Paris Island South Car-
olina The next station was Camp
LaJune North Carolina in August
of 53 where she served in the ad-
ministrative field after 18 weeks
training in Norfolk West Va
She played on the marine basket-
ball team two years and won sev-
eral honors She with her sis-
ter who had never been separated
by request while in the service
were transferred to Pearl Harbor
Hawaii where they were stationed
about 20 miles apart -
The Fain marines have been
in Hawaii since 1955

the District Oklahoma Education-
al Associational meeting at East
Centra State college at Ada
Thursday and Friday He attended
the banquet held at the student
union Thursday evening The board
meeting was held immediately
following the bandquet
Friday Dustin school was dis-
missed and most of the faculty
joined him for the meeting Pat
Pounds of Spaulding district pres-
ident presided over Fridays meet-
ing Supt R G Fleming is chair-
man of the board of the OEA

ttended the OEA meeting at Du-

The monthly Hughes County
school masters meeting was held
Monday evening at Spaulding A
banquet dinner proceeded the
paeeting held jointly with the
various boards of Education who
are organising a Hughes county
school board association: Elected
officers for the new organization
were presidnet Roy Wootten vice
president Oren Wilbanks Hol-
denville secretary and treasurer

The newly formed organization
will meet with the school masters
club every three months
The next meeting will be held

Dustin won five trophies in the
tournament at Graham last week
— two firsts and three runners-
up This closed the basketball

tournament here the previous
week Coach Owens said they
will have a short rest and then
go all out for baseball

of education began March 7 and
will end Saturday March 17 at

his light Berkshires His entry
also won the champion in the little
pig division of the Berkshire

and fifth with light Duros and

Dustin Legion Post’s
37th Birthday Is
Noted by Program
The American Legion and Aux-
iliary met in joint session at the
Methodist church Annex Monday
evening March 12 for the ' cele-
bration of the American Legion’s
37th birthday A pot luck supper
preceeded the meeting Served as
the last course of the meal was a
beautiful white oblong cake top-
ped with 37 multi-colored candles
placed behind a large “87” The
cake was baked by Mrs Claude
Meadors district president who is
a member of Unit 144 Dustin
Commander Jack King and unit
president Mrs Leona Edwards
blew out the candles and cut the
cake as they sang “Happy Birth-
day” Other intertainment was a short
talk by Lee Tenny publisher of
the Weleetka American who was
a special guest He commented
briefly on the “Importance of
Home Defense” Gloria Shorpshire
5th grade student in Dustin school
sang a solo accompanied at the
piano by Mrs Jack King! Mrs
Joe E Brown state poppy chair-
man gave the story of the poppy
“In Flanders Field” and outlined
the years poppy program
Mrs Claude Meadors district
president gave a resume of the
meeting in Oklahoma City Fri-
day Saturday and Sunday honor-
ing the national president at tha
Sldrvin hotel Decorations for the
dining table were a large center
piece of poppies and greenery
combined in a large green bowl
flanked at either side by minia-
ture American flags surrounded
by popples
This was new decoration creat-
ed to interest clubs and organiza-
tions in using poppies for table
decorations on all occasions
An invitation was extended to
the Dustin post and unit front
Wetumka to attended their meet-
ing Monday night March 19 The
Axillary Unit of Dustin post 14d
will make scuffs for the Veter-
ans Hospitals and send jelly to
the veterans ward at Norfnan Ap-
plication has been made for a
representative of Dustin to girls
state A joint donation for the
orphans home at Ponca City will
be made from Dustin post and
unit to help defer expences of a
new heating unit
