Just look what we got from Mrs
McAdoo
Not "Business as Usual” but
business as needed '
Lambs 13 per pound on foot!
What will they bring as mutton
If Mr Hoover comes out of itall
right he might run for president
He who cannot take life as it is
usually succeeds in making it
worse
Prosperity to be national must
include the masses as well as the
classes
' Something has happened at the
Kabetzka well north of Lahoma
anyway
If the war does nothing else it
will take the tdge of the curiosity
of seeing women in overalls
Can it be ihat Mr Ford is figur-
ing on getting the boys out of the
trenches by Christmas?
Where there is a beginning
there will be an end But you
will find that God is at both places
It seems to be a special privilege
now to get to sell a load of wheat
because of a shortage of cars to
ship it
Mans happiness is dependent —
First upon his attitude toward
God and then upon his bearing
toward his fellow man
0 J Alberti has been appointed
fuel administrator for this place
Hope he don’t have to chop wood
before the war is over
If you buy out of town and we
buy out of town and all our neigh-
bors buy out of town what’s go-
ing to become of the town? Ever
stop to think?— Waukomis Homit
Dont forget to put a three cent
stamp on your letter now and two
cents on your card as we did in
the sixties when some of us were
boys and our dads freed the color-
ed gentleman '
Walter Ferguson broughtJudge
Cullison down from Cherokee Sat-
urday to catch the local tor Enid
but missed it and he took the Judge
back to Cherokee The train was
on time (Frisco)
Here’s hoping the would-be can-
didates for governor will be as
mild as possible in view of the fact
that the press of the state is al-
ready overburdened with “win the
war” stuff
If Henry Ford can turnoutfliers
as fast as he has been turning out
automobiles Uncle Sam will win
the war in a walk The outputof
six months or a year will put the
Germans out of business
It must be apparent that Mr
Hoover hardly has the full grasp
of his job when he permits hun-
dreds of car loads - of perishable
food stuff to go to waste in the
congested railway yards of the big
cities
God permits war at times as a
corrective measure and at other
times He brings it upon peoples as
a means of punishment but in
every case it is a result of
As long as sin prevails
world there will be war
It is noted that Tulsa county is
in the throes of a campaign to vote
$1750000 in bonds on that county
for road construction It is also
noted that E Bee Guthrey is active
in the campaign so it is quite rea-
sonable to suppose that this one
step in the direction of the Albert
Pike highway The issue is op-
posed quite strongly by some but
Tulsa is a rich county and Guthrey
is a worker and if he winsitmeans
a bad gap in the trail being com-
pleted at an early date
Name The Farm
Why not name your farm and
let the Star put you up a supply
fl Those who have
of stationery
done so are well pleased with the
experiment The farmer who
uses more business methods in the
management of his affairs will be
the more successful

As usual happening regularly
once each year the neighbors
gathered at the home of Mrs Wal-
lace and chopped up a winter sup-
ply of wood for these deserving
people While the men were chop-
ping wood the ladies gathered at
the house and tacked carpet rags
and prepared a sumptuous spread
The day was pleasantly spent in
the good work It was Mrs Wal-
lace’s birthday and she was 86
years old on this day
