A Surprise Party
Monday was Mam Christian's 18th
birthday hut because of the revival
meeting at Walthall Ills friends sur-
prised him no Saturday evening
Sam having beeo away from home for
some lime came home to visit bis

drove Into the yard ho beheld a crowd
of laughing boys who enjoying his
embarrassment led him loin the house
where he found the table covered
with good tilings to eat

the source of much enjoyment The

Mrs Sharpless Dead
Word has just b-en received here
that Mrs Sharpies? of t Ills place died
at N’orman Tuesday evening She

husband some months ago and was
taken to Normao for treatment but

mains will be brought back here and
that Interment will be made at Era

Tuesday for Norman on hearing of
the death of their mother there and

ing from their place out west near

To the Ringwood Leader ' and
friends:— As 1 promised so many of
our neighbor and friends that we
would let them bear from u I will
drop a few line to tbe Leader We
left homo March 1 went far as Helena
stopped over night with Geo Oakley’s
oext day Geo and family accompani-
ed us a far a John Oakley's near
Jet then next morning we bid them
adien and started 00 our journey tu
Topeka Kuos went through some
pretty country arouod Medford Ok
we thought Kind Creek the prettiest
little luwu we ever saw In Oalahoma
at Mulvane Kao we stopped for a
short visit with mv Uncle' S G
Thompson whom 1 bad not seen for
22 years from there on through tbe
weather wa rather cool but we all
kept well and so heraty and as It wa
our first overland trip we enjoyed It
In spite of the cold bad such good
roads must all the way passed' many
beautiful country homes aud reached
Topeka the J2 at duoo Topeka is' a
fine city but we hurried on as It Was
camping time and Grandpa's was
only four mile north and BP hour
later he met us at tbe gate and we
found a good warm dinner wailing
for us
The children were like young colt
1 urot-d out Tor eit-rclse and 1 think
by evening they had seen lo every
room In Graodpa's house from base
tueot to attic aud bad made a close
count of bl aneep and young lambs
which attracted Ibeir altenliou We
put up at Grandpa Scotls a few days
unit! our house was finished plaster-

little cottage just a few step from
Indian creek on the East aod a big
apple orchard op the West tbe

grass The tall tree here and no
underbrush look so Different to roe

Grandpa hs just used tbe last of
lit apple ami potatoes from bis
cellar from last years crop aud bl
big bay mow is tilled with timothy
aud alfalfa hay they counted them

The wheat look due now we have
some potatoes planted will plant
about two acres mure bve made
some gardt-o It has rained so much
here fur the past two weeks and I

just like we all did to the sand but I

Tuesday evening witnessed a rath-
er stormy meeting of the town board

awarded to Wright and the work of
