residing near Clearview was ac-

whose name is Jenkins

lins house he saw a hawk near-
by and stepping to the door ask-
ed for a gun to kill the bird with
The Collins girl handed him a
gun saying it was not loaded

gun as Jenkins was working with
it and the weapon was accidently

CITY COUNCIL
Wrestles 'With Some Vexed
Problems
The city council met Wednes-
day night with all members pres-
ent and Mayor Fish1 presiding
with his customary dignity A
number of bills were bunched to-
gether and allowed and the
monthly bill of the Ice Light &
Power Company was referred to
the finance committee
A motion was made and carried
authorizing the mayor to let a
contract for the construction of a
fire house to be used for the pur-
pose of protecting the equipment
recently purchased from the
weather '
The matter of the Frisco cross-
ing on the section line was
brought up once more and the
mayor reported that he had se-
cured promises that the crossing
would be made but that it had
not been done It was agreed
that another effort would be made
to secure this crossing and if of
no avail to have the Frisco-road
arrested and jailed
screens and painted windows of
the billiard and pool halls of the
town and order them removed
setting forth the fact that the
screens gave room for suspicions
that a'll was not proper and well
within The remonstrance re-
monstrated against this proposed
act
The petition neglected to set
forth the fact that the screens
were a public nuisance and detri-
mental to the morals of the town
and the city fathers saw no way
under the wording of the petition
to finally act on the matter and
the petition was allowed to drag
over until some future meeting
