- An Appreciated Complimented
The staff of the "Crier” in this
the last issue wishes to thank al
those who helped to make our
paper a success The paper was
only made possible by the adver-
tising placed herein by the merch
ants of Afton v They have always
been working to make a better
school out of our high school anc
we believe they came nearer mak
ing our high school this year a
success than any other term before
the school year of 1915-16 We
hope that the merchants have
profited from the help they have
given us We also' wish to ex-
press our thanks to the high schoo
faculty for the assistance they
have given us and our fellow stu-
dents We also have students
who deserve mention for they
have contributed articles to the
"Crier” without ever being men
tioned on the staff The Afton
American printers of the “Crier”
deserve more honor than they re'
ceive They printed the "Crier”
at the lowest cost and on the best
grade of paper The ads were
arranged by them and they met
with the greatest approval of all
our advertisers The type was
neat and might be called perfect
The American even did more than
this for they have offered to pub
lish a Commencement Number of
the Afton American With hopes
of a high school paper next year
we publish the last number of the
“Crier” wishing the continued
success of the Afton American and
the Afton High School— Crier
Thinkers
Are you a thinker?
Of course you are Everyone
must think or he could not live
But whose thoughts do you
think? That is the question
Everyone is an eater but not
everyone raises his own harvests
and eats hjs own grain or even
earns the bread he consumes
Everyone uses furniture but few
make their own chairs and tables

THE
SURVIVOR
The fittest survive! - Neither men nor machines if they are
unfit can long withstand the crushing strain of an exacting ex-
istence ' N
Buick Valve-in-Head motor cars are built on principles
that were established when the motor-car industry started and
that these cars have survived without change in their fundamen-
tals is convincing proof that they are constructed on basic prin-
ciples that are correct '
In the making of Buicks there has been no yearly shifting
from one set of engineering and manufacturing principles to an
entirely different set The Buick Valve-in-Head principle was
right in the beginning and it has been right ever since Each
passing hour finds this great principle more firmly and securely
established in the estimation of the motoring public
The Valve-imHead principle is the great reason for the
survival of Buick motor cars If this principle had not been cor-
rect Buick too would have found it necessary to jump from one
kind of motor to another in a ceaseless effort to find something
that would stand the grilling work a motor car is called upon to do
The Buick has survived every test that a quarter of a mil-
lion users could devise in the most exacting conditions of world-
wide service There could be no better proof that the Buick is the
fittest among motor cars '
