Larry Yoder and Lynn Hopkins
: both of Jet have been elected to of
fices at the 14th annual session of
Boys’ State in session at the Univ-
ersity of Oklahoma last week
Boys’ State is sponsored by the
Oklahoma Department of the Amer-
lean Legion Lyle OrifTis of Anadar-
ko is director of the week-long event
this year
Some 480 boys have created their
own city county and state govern-
ments and elected officials to fill the
positions Governor Raymond Gary
was a luncheon guest Tuesday and
later talked to the junior lawmakers
about some of his own problems
Boys’ State officers were inaugur-
ated Tuesday night with Vice Chief
Justice Ben T Williams of the State
Supreme Court presiding State sen-
ators and representatives dropped
in to give the boys some assistance
in ironing out legislative problems
A variety show was staged Wed-
nesday night and girls from Girls’
State at Chickasha were scheduled
to attend a dance with the boys in
Norman Friday night
Yoder was elected justice of the
supreme court and Hopkins was
named state representative from
Stigler county

Ray Widener has been employed
as vocational agriculture teacher at
Loyal in Kingfisher county
The Loyal chapter is not many
years- old and has an outstanding
program including a large show

The Wideners plan to move to that
towp this summer

Mrs Edna Fuson and Mr Harold
Case both of Jet made their mar-
riage vows Wednesday afternoon
June 6 in the home of Rev and Mrs
W A Keller 405 South Pennsyl-
vania avenue Cherokee Wedding
rings were exchanged by the con-
tracting parties as they made their
vows
Guests of the marriage were Mrs
Elsie Duncan Miss Ruth Ann Fuson
and Mrs W A Keller
Mr and Mrs Case are both en-
gaged in the farming industry and
will continue their labors in that
industry Mr Case is also employed
as a grocery salesman in Jet
Following a brief honeymoon the
newlyweds will be at home to their
friends where they will receive the
best wishes of all friends
Mrs Anna Dunn was removed
from St Mary's hospital in Enid
Tuesday night to the home of her
son Mr and Mrs Charles Dunn and
sons Mrs Dunn is showing improve-

Miss Viola Dunn who has been
with her mother Mrs Anna Dunn
at St Mary's hospital in Enid went
to Wichita Wednesday and will re-
turn to Jet Thursday to assist in the
care of her mother
Mrs Judson Brown drove her
daughter Mrs Jack Rlnglaben of
Enid to Oklahoma City Monday
where they rented a duplex The
Ringlaben’s are moving to Okla-
homa City the first of July where
Jack will be employed with the Big
Red warehouse

George Kerr of Chicago is visit-
ing his brother Dewey Kerr in the
Veterans’ hospital in’ Wichita and in
Jet with other relatives
Mr and Mrs John Jordan and
Alvin are leaving Jet where Jofdan
has terminated his lease with Por-
gie’s cafe effective Wednesday They
took over the cafe lease last No-
vember and Jim Robins owner has
resumed the management
Jordan will enter the Methodist
ministry the charge to be decided
on Thursday by the district superintendent

Max Church 71 died last Wednes-
day in a Tulsa hospital following a
few days illness after a heart at-
tack He was a retired secretary of
the J E Crosby Oil Corporation
He ie survived by his wife one
daughter Hi la and one son Rob-
ert also four grandchildren
Funeral services were held in Tul-
sa Friday and were attended by his
brothers Levi of Wichita Mr and
Mrs Phil Church of Wellington
Munson of Jet another brother Jim
lives in Tulsa
Mrs Grace Mason of Alva is vis-
iting in the home of her daughter

Harvest Over
The wheat harvest is practically
over in this area with yields much
more than had been expected and
probably the earliest harvest cut-
ting on record
The largest yield reported in the
area is that of Dais Metcalf who
had a 70-acre field that made 41
bushels to the acre The land is three
miles east of Jet and several years
ago had been planted to alfalfa
Harold Cross of the Farmers Co-
operative Exchange reports that
they had received 250000 bushels
of wheat and had shipped 25 cars
Henry Walderich of the Feuquay
elevator said that be had received
75000 bushels which is 4 times
more than he took in last year He
has shipped" sA cars
Most farmers are storing thy
wheat and taking government loans
The Santa Fa railroad has remov-
ed one of the switchers and both
will be off by the last of the week
with just the regular freight ac-
cording to R K Kelly agent
The farmers are now busily one-
waylng their ground getting ready
for next year’s crop
