Harvest Begins
Wheat harvest is underway in this
area in a small way and is expected
to pick up the last of the week when
more combines were to enter fields
John Myrick delivered the first
1955 wheat to the Farmer’s Co-operative
Exchange Monday evening
The wheat tested 67 lbs to the bushel
with moisture content of 1263 The
yield — 27 bushels off of ten acres
The Farmerf had received 300 bush-
els of the new crop up to Wednesday
morning according to Harold Cross
manager '
Henry Walderich reports that he
had received two loads of wheat
delivered by Floyd Zimmerman
which tested 60 lbs with 1215 moist-
ure content and believed to be av-
eraging 3 to 4 bushel to the acre
Mr and Mrs Otis Tarr of Wich-
ita formerly of Jet and the Liberty
neighborhood were visitors here
Memorial day and called at his
brother's home Mr Harve Tarr and
on Mrs Josephine Tarrant and fam-

A get-together of the Corbet fam-

Burial will be in Jet cemetery
Mrs Case died at her home Mon-
day morning Her husband had taken
their son ' Ronald to Medford to
spend several weeks with a relative
and on his return found his wife
dead A note was found nearby and
two empty glasses that had con-
tained sodium of cyanide solution
(ant poison) She had been in bad
health for several years
Survivors include her husband
Harold and son Ronald parents
Mr and Mrs Ed Riley of Jet and
several brothers and sisters

her home Thursday from St Mary's
hospital in Enid where she had been
for surgery
Edana and Cynthia Shorter of
Anthony Kansas came Tuesday of
last week for a visit with their
grandparents Mr and Mrs Clayton

W E Broadhurst is the new pastor
of the First Christian church in Jet
and with Mrs Broadhurst and small
son arrived here last week He is a
student at Phillips university in
Enid

We are very happy that we have

TWO JET GIRLS WIN MUSIC
AWARDS AT NORTHWESTERN
Two Northwestern State College
students from Jet were among those
who received awards at the recent
Honor Day Assembly held at North-
western State College in Alva They
were Ruth Thomas and Faye Hutch-
eson Ruth is the daughter of Mr and
Mrs Frank Thomas and Faye is the
daughter of Mr and Mrs Lester
Hutcheson They received music let-
ters for the one year which they
have been active in the Northwest-
ern State College Choir
Mr and Mrs Henry Walderich
went to Wichita Sunday and were
overnight guests in the home of Mr
and Mrs John Gregg and family
Enroute to Wichita they viewed the
damage done by the tornadoes at
Blackwell and Udall Kansas
