Boy Scouts In Camp
Monday morning about twenty
five members of the Boy Scouts
with Scoutmasters Herb Cavett and
Sam Jett in command started on a
hike for Dripping Spring north of
the river where they went into
camp for a week’s training Cars
carried their equipment of bedding
and chow We noticed several “old
kids" who years ago had passed
the age limit for a boy scout stand-
ing around with envy in their eyes
and wishing they were again a kid
that they might accompany the
boys on their trip
Sam Jett came to town Tuesday
for more chow and reports the boys
had fiBh for breakfast that morning
having captured twenty-eight the
previous night
Rain— Some Hail
This part of the moral vineyard
was visited by a heavy rain yester-
day and was accompanied by con-

any damage The outlook at the
present time for a good wheat crop
is most promising Everything will
be greatly helped About the only
thing injured was where they had
alfalfa down and in windrows

There’s A Reason
In grapenut parliance there’s a
reason for people leaving other
towns and coming here to trade as
was observed last Friday when a
car of folks from the county seat
drove up to a store in Jet and load-
ed up a big bill of goods Again
Saturday two more families from
about the same distance came to
Jet to do their trading The reason?
Why bless your soul two to three
cents more for their eggs and more
money and better tests for cream
and more and better goods for their
money answers the question
And yet there are a few who
believe they can do better away
from here
Combines
It would appear that the farmers
around Jet were preparing to go
into a little combine of their own
as a carload of these machines were
unloaded here yesterday for the
Findly Hardware Co and Lee in-
formed us he had orders for three
more which he was expecting in to-
today making seven of these ma-
chines sold this year
While there has been some op-
position to these machines the fact
that more farmers are buying them
each year would indicate they were
practical and would be one of the
solutions to the high cost of production
Moyne Hulsey Killed
A shadow was thrown over this
community Sunday when a tele-
gram was received stating that
Moyne Hulsey had been fatally in-
jured in an auto accident Friday
night at Redondo Beach Calif
Another telegram a few hours later
announced his death from the in-
juries received
Moyne was born here eighteen
years ago his mother dying two
days after his birth and his grand-
parents Mr and Mrs J T Andrews
raised him until he was fifteen
When they both hfid passed away
he then went to Southbend Wash
to make his home with his father
The body was shipped from Los
Angeles Wednesday night and it is
thought will arrive in Kiowa Friday
night where relatives will meet
them No definite arrangements
can be made for the funeral until
the father arrives but a general
call over the phone will be given
