Featuring Shoes
New Creations for
Men Folks
showing of conservative
and sport models in men's
fine dress shoes and oxfords is
the most interesting depart-
ment of our store just now
In this line you will find new
designs and shades of leather
on the most comfortable lasts
alf of which combine to make
up an exceptionally fine assort-
ment of attractive durable and
comfortable footwear
We fully realize that if we are
to succeed in business we must
give you merchandise that will
bring repeat sales We stress
the fact that every shoe is built
to stand the test of wear and
to render an extra measure of
service to you N
With all these good features
combined with the popular
prices we naturally attract the
attention of particular men who
have been buying in the larger
i
towns and paying nearly double
the price for their footwear
Remember also the Rocky Mountain
work shoes we carry are second to none
Beside the attractive appearance there is
the make-up and construction Quality of
a shoe lies deeper than the surface how-
ever but we have it altogether in the
Rocky Mountain work shoe
Your shoes might cost you more (with-
out a valid reason) to buy them elsewhere
Yours truly

Card of
Sir Humphrey Davt
Gift to Coal M inert
The output of coal from our
mines last year was but 7000000
tons short of the record output of
287000000 tons in the year before
the war says the London Tit-Bits
This is remarkable in view of the
great difficulties under which our
miners work in pits which are deep
and old for sometimes they have to
walk a couple of miles underground
before reaching the face on which
they are working
Britain owes a great debt to Sir
Humphrey Davy for his safety
lamp which he gave as a free gift
to the miners refusing to patent it
lest its use should be restricted If
it were not for this lamp and its
more recent developments the
working of our older and deeper
mines would be quite impracticable
and thus tens of millions of tons of
coal would fail to be won and
brought to the surface
Yet a mad dog almost deprived
the world of Sir Humphrey The
lad who was to become one of the
greatest scientists England has pro-
duced was returning from fishing
accompanied by his pet spaniel
when he encountered a mad dog
The dog attacked his pet Hum-
phrey Davy counter-attacked with
his heavy fishing rod and was bit-
ten in the leg for his pains He
clutched the mad dog by the neck
and held it down till it was killed
Then he took out his penknife and
deliberately cut out the lacerated
part from his own leg
