NATION-WIDE BULLETINS
Topeka Kan Nov 2 — On the face
of returns available here as the polls
closed tonight Kansas today apparent-
ly cast the heaviest vote of its history
in a general election Some officials
asserted the total count will be in the
neighborhood of 700000 Four years
ago with women voting the total
reached 629813
Based upon precinct figures widely
scattered and received before the polls
closed the trend of today’s vote in
this stale was republican The early
figures in most instances were largely
in favor of Senator Harding Approx-
imately the same ratio prevailed in
favor of United States Senator Chas
Curtis who is opposed for re-election
by George H Hodges a democrat
Figures received on the contest be-
tween Governor Henry Allen and Jon-
athan Davis his democratic opponent
seemed to indicate a closer vote than
in the other major races With the
double counting system in effect in
the larger cities election boards were
able to begin the work of tabulating
