HOME TALENT GOOD
The play put on by the Royal
Neighbors at the Savoy Monday
night was' greeted by a full house
and was greatly enjoyed by
all present Several of the char-
acters were especially good but all
showed ability and proved that they
had- given considerable time and
thought to the production of "The
Dream That Came True"
The trio three Yewed young la-
dies was also exceptionally well re-
ceived and their singing and read-
ings were good '
The play was put on at Nash Tue-
day night where it was also well
received
We believe that Jet has more
dramatic talent than any town in
the state Our school plays have
generally pleased and now to find
that this same talent exists' among
the older people Is an added weight
to this fact for fact it seems to be
Remember that this war is a
survival of the fittest and your dol-
lars in War Savings and Thrift
Stamps will make our Army and
Navy the fittest
SHORTHORNS REMAIN AT HOME
One very satisfactory feature to
Mr Campbell of his sale of regis-
tered 6horthorn bulls last Friday
was the fact that every animal was
purchased by home people Mp
Campbell realized that the pure
blooded stock which he was selling
he could have got more money by
putting them in the ring at Enid or
Oklahoma City but he preferred to
keep them here and thereby advance
the grade of stock of Alfalfa county
The animals averager $180 and
were bought by the following farm-
ers: Ed Carson Geo Ruppenthal
Will Wespe W 8 Hockenberry S
P Sparks and Jess' Carter

FORMER VISITOR EDITOR BACK
A B Cavett arrived Monday from
Blalrsburg Iowa and will probably
remain here this spring and 'sum-
mer Mr Cavett established this
paper at the old town of Jet four-
teen years ago this month
In conversation with him as to
Iowa conditions' he opened our eyos
as to prices ' He stated that home
grown seed corn was to his know!
edge selling for $15 a bushel’ anu
that he had heard of cases Where
some farmers paid double that
Lately a state commission had set I
a maximum price on it however!
of $10 per bushel The reason’ for!
the high price was that In the past '
I four years but one mature crop ot
corn had been raised Last year’s!
crop was soft on account of the cold
summer and an early freeze anl
while it was good tor feed It wasj
no good for seed
Land around Blalrsburg and Web-
ster City Commands $200" an
acre if well Improved and Mr Ca-
vett says even at that price it is
being bought as an Investment
