Mr and Mrs W K Suthers and
children of west of town returned
Friday from Lawton where they
spent the week with Mrs Suther’s
parents Mr Suthers reports that
he visited Ft Sill and Camp Doni
phan while at Lawton where they
saw Uncle Sam preparing for war
with a vim that puts real class into
the enthusiasm of the American
people for “kannirig the Kaiser”
Hundreds of new buildings are be-
ing erected at Ft Sill by the Gov-
ernment working a force of about
4000 men every building erected
has a light water and sewerage
system Railroads telephone tele
graph lines and electric railway
lines are being built from Lawton
to the Fort : Mr Suthers saw the
aerial field and airdotncs under con-
struction where a fleet of flying
machines will be equipped and the
training of the men carried to per-
fection French officers are now at
Ft Sill training the men in a school
of fire Mr Suthers saw hundreds
of National Guardsmen from Mis-
souri Kansas Texas Arkansas and
and Oklahoma who are being mo-
bolized for duty in France

Sunday by Deputy Fitt and taken
into custody by Sheriff Bradshaw
who took him to Woodward where
he was arraigned ' before United

charged with unlawfully wilfully
and feloniously attempting 1 to
cause insubordination disloyalty
and refusal of duty and mutiny in
the military and naval forces of the
United States Hummer’s bond was
placed at $600000 by Commissioner
Alexander At the present time
he is confined in the County jail
at this place where he will be held
until he makes bond or is taken to
Fnid and placed in the Federal jail

which was to have been held at
Arnett on September 1 1th and 12th
will have to be postponed - unti

RED CROSS ME
The Arnett Chapter of the Ameri
can Red Cross held their regular
monthly business meeting at the
Court House Thursday night The
Local Chapter is making a gooc
showing in the raising of funds
and supplies Fifty new members
were enrolled paying into the
Treasury $9100 in fees of which
$2450 is retained by the Local
Chapter for the purchase of mater-
ials for making supplies for sold-
iers The east room of the Liux-
wiler building has been secured for
headquarters for the various com
mittees and is being equipped for
work Thus far 15 ladies have
been enlisted to assist in knitting
and other work
Rev Hobson who is conducting
the Tabernacle meeting has announ-
ced that be and bis wife aod daugh-
ter will take out their membership
with the Local Chapter and that
he will make a donation of 10 per
cent of his offerings at the close of
the meeting for the benefit of the
Red Cross
Regular business meetings of the
Chapter will be held on the last
Thursday night in each mopth

He was married to Fluella Beam
in the year 1897 to this union was
born nine children seven of whom
are with the mother one daughter
Mrs Paul Holloway who lives
south of town and one son William
who is in the United States army
stationed at Camp Douglas Utah
Mrs Frost is also a sister to our
fellow townsman Dr J P Beam
Mr Frost was highly respected
in this community where he made
many friends during his long resid
enee here He was a big hearted
good natured man who never lost
sight of the humor in every day
life and his life was spent in mak-
ing others feel the joy of living
that he himself felt The Capital
joins with the host of friends in
extending its sympathy to the ber-

No boy or girl can compete

Arnett where the matter was tak-
en up with the County Attorney
who reccomended that Mr Byers
be placed under a peace bond
L nder Sheriff Walker then phoned
to Sheriff Bradshaw who was at
another place in the county to go
by way of Gage and arrest Mr
Byers that he might brought
here and placed under a peace bond
Sheriff' Bradshaw arrived at Gage
in the evening and went direct to
the Byers home where Mr Byers
was placed under arrest The pris-
louerthen requested the Sheriff to '
let him go into another room to
write a check to leave with his
family the request was granted
Mr Byers had only been away
from the Sheriff a few minutes
when a shotgun report was- heard
iu the house upon investigating
the body was found with the face
and fore part of the head torn off '
Byers had placed the shot gun un-
der his chin and pulled the trigger
The coroners jury returned a
verdict stating that Byers had come
to his death at his own' hands
Mr Byers leaves a wife three
children a mother and several bro-
thers together with a host of
friends and acquaintances

The revised statutes of the U S
define treason as follows: “Every
person owing allegience to the U
S who levies war against them or
dheres to their enemies giving
them aid and comfort within the
U S or elsewhere is guilty of
treason”
A newspaper man who will ad-
ertise defend or aid in giving
publicity to his countries enemies
is guilty of treason according to
this statute if the agitators who
have been arrested in this county
are gnilty then those who have
misrepresented them to the people
should suffer their fate Why
should one culpcrt be punished and
another allowed to escape
