CONTRACT IS LET
Ten-Story Structure to Be
Under Way by October
Work on a ten-story office build
ing at the northwest corner of Main
ami Broadway will be begun within
the next thirty days it was announced
today by Frank Wikoff president of
the Tradesmens State bank. Con
tract for the building has been let to
Keinhardt v Donovan Oklahoma
City on a percentaue basis. An
noiincement of the estimated cost has
not been made but it is thought it
will be nearly $4tKI(l00.
Work should be well under way by
October 1 but the building will not
be ready for occupancy until prob-
ably October 19.1). it was stated.
The huilduiiF will have ten stories
and basement with "25 offices on each
floor. Three elevators will he in-
stalled. Outside finish will be stone
and terra cotta. The inside will be
finished in marble and hardwood.
The first three stories are to be
used by the bank as well as the base-
ment. Work of tearing down the old
Western National hank building on
the site of which the new building
will be constructed will be begun
after September 1.

WASHINGTON Aug. 27.-The
cool wave extending over the country
cast of the Mississippi river and
which is almost unprecedented for
this time of year probabbjr will con-

today at the weather bureau. It re-
sults from high pressure over the

mum temperature of 54 degrees to-

of the Oklahoma Traffic association
Here are a few things coming up:
On September 15 a hearing before
the interstate commerce commission
on rates here from points east of the
Illinois-Indiana state line will be
held. On September 8 the annual
mretiiMt of the Southwestern Indus-
trial Traffic league will be held ;n
Dallas. On September 9 comet an
important meeting of the Dallas dis-
trict traffic association and on Sep-
tember 14 an important hearing on
refrigerator rates before -tJie inter-
state commerce commission at New
Orleans.

arguments on merits of fire trucks
this morning in an effort to close a
contract for either a combination
runiping and hose truck or a com
bination chemical and hose truck.

The commissioners will probably make
no decision for several days. '

homa Natural Cat company and its
distributing agency the Oklahoma
Cat and Electric company permission
to increase rates in Oklahoma City
was filed with the corporation com-
mission this morning by the Manty
Export company of Oklahoma City.
"When all agencies of the govern-
ment are bending every effort not only
to check further advances but to re-
duce the cost of living it does not
seem to he appropriate to grant thit
increase at this time" states the pro-
