early part of this week by the children

plaintiffs declared that C. F. lilerirk
had full control of the estate of (J. W.
Klerick and asked for an order re-
straining him from disposing of fcny of
the property or money in his possession.

Detectives l'ost and Detective Carter
started the wires to work to appre-
hend the burglar. The frail first led
to Tulsa and from there Chief Nichols
and Jim Carter followed the man
through Oklahoma Kansas and Mis-
souri. They thought the trail was lost
when they failed to catch the man in
SL Louis but they learned that lie had
- gone into Arkansas and Fort Smith
authorities were notfied to be on the
lookout for him and he was arrested.
He will be brought hack to Oklahoma
Ciry tonight or tomorrow.
County Jail Clock
Is Temperamental
The county jailer is happy again to-
day. For the past several days the
dock in the county jail has appeared
to be "doped." It would run for a
while and then slop. Then it would
tun again for a short while.
With all these stops ami delays the
clmk was several minutes behind most
of the time. Fast night Assistant
Jailer Falmer became exasperated and
started to take thr clock to pieces hut
just as Jr did so it began ticking and
be replaced it on the wall. I'p to II
o'clock today it had not stopped and
was keeping perfect time l rrf jailers
now know when it is time to eat their
meals and change shifts without re-
ferring to the clock in Sheriff John-
son's room.

White to Confer
With Coal Leader

INDIANAPOLIS. Sept. 8 Presi-
dent John H. White of the United
Mine Workers of Amerira will leave
here Sunday night for Washington to
ronfer with Dr. II. A. Garfield na-
tional coal administrator in accordance
with the plan derided upon at the in-
formal joint conference of miners and
operators in this comprtitive field held
here last Thursday it was announced
here todav. President White hopes to
be able to arrange a meeting between
the miners' officials and Dr. Garfield
for next Tuesday when th miners will
present to the coal administrator their
argument for an increase in the mining
scale.
SURGEONS ARE SUED
FOR BONE-SETTING
A unit was filed in district court to-
davhy Kena Markham against John
P. Norvall and J. W. laurk local sur
geons in which the plaintiff seeks to
recover IItH) damages tor an alleged
unskillful resetting of bones which she
alleges she frartured in a fall on Aug-
ust 1 l'z7. The bones were set so
she savs that they failed to knt prop-
erty and cause her nun h pain

Malone who yestrrday rrsigned as r il
lector of customs for the port of New
York as a protest against the adminis-
tration's failure to advocate woman
suffrage said today he would continue

Malone added that he had no "political
bee in his bonnet."
Two Leave Here Today for
National Army Cantonment.
A number of relatives and friends and
a delegation of the county council of
defense was at the railroad station to-

the last of them left here yeserday.
There will be only four more men
to leave Oklahoma City in the fi.st
5 percent call they being Harry I'u-
genr Cecil Clyde W. l.yman and J. W.
Tulle of the second district and Per-
cv H. Kobberson of the third distric'.
These four men will leave tomorrow
morning for Camp Travis.
Fortv percent of the city s quota will
begin their trip to Camp T ravis about
September 19 according to the present
plans of the war department.
Water Power Suit
Still Being Tried
The suit of Mrs. Anna Price against
the Oklahoma Cit v Ditch and Water
Power company was still : n trial today
before District Judge Clark and it is
thought that it will not be completed
before Monday. Mrs. Price seeks to
foreclose a mortgage on attain prop-
erty given as security on bonds issued
by the water power company a uartrr
of a century ago. The amount i.f the
bonds with interest is Jlfj.fKK). The
mortgage covets very valuable proper-
ty it is said.
