Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Southeastern rallied twice in the second half on a pair of long scoring drives to subdue Langston, 16-15, before an overflow homecoming crowd of 5,000 at Anderson Field Saturday. Langston had counted on its homecoming hex to escape the Collegiate Conference cellar, but Savages won their first game of the year. Southeastern is 1-2 in conference and 1-4 on the year while the Lions dropped to 0-4 and 0-5. So pitful had Southeastern's field position been in the first half that it took 22 minutes for the Savages to pick up a first down. In seven possessions they took over on their own two, 29, 11, 20, 34, one and 33. Early in the second quarter the Lions blunted a Savage drive at the Southeastern 29. Tommy Strode's 39-yard punt was returned to the Lion 33. The Lions moved 67 yards in 11 plays to score with Robert Hubbard picking up the last three on a burst over right guard. The drive was aided by 28 yards in penalties. Bu the roughest spot of the day for the Savages came 2:35 from halftine. Knifing in low, Northeastern defender Greg Thompson spills Richard Henderson of Southwestern after a four-yard gain."
