Description

  • Content Description: Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "With the earth-movers down to NE 10, workers have mover about 3 million cubic yards of dirt so far in straightening the N Canadian channel between that point and Spencer to the North. Just this last week, the heavy equipment moved down to the concrete bridge on NE 10, with NE 4 and Foundry as the goal. Responsible for this work are three draglines, one camshell, one shovel, 12 tractors, "bottim dumps" and five Tournapulls. Riprapping of the river's new banks has progrressed south of NE 23 bridge about 1,000 yards. This preperation consists of building up a layer of sand, a layer of sand and gravel, then a layer of rock on the surface. Elsewhere, grass is turned into the banks with discs. List & Clark of Kansas City is doing the work. Bids are due February 11 in the U. S. army engineer's Tulsa office for the second leg of the project."
