the Fourth of July is near at hand,
and the small boy has already com-
menced celebrating. We will report
the number of fatalities throughout
the United States after the big show

The ladies aid of the M. E. church
met with Mrs. Oscar Harry Wednes-
day afternoon. Quite a number of
the members were present and the
meeting was interesting as well as
profitable. Refreshments were served.

day last week George Sherwin met
with a very painful accident by run-
ning a rusty nail in his foot just above
hie heel. The foot is badlv swollen
and Mr Sherwin has not been able to

While some towns in Oklahoma are
clamoring for waterworks, the Ex-
ponent editor is in bed waiting for
his wife to dry his last summer pants.
Dr. Pingry left Thursday for south-
ern Texas and the coast country. The
doctor has been in very poor health
for some time and if that country
looks good to him he will probably lo-
cate there.

The city should get busy and put in
a crossing between the two foot
bridge, on 4th street. The condition
of this crossing has been an eye sore
to people on the west side ever since county

The replevin suit brought by J. S.
Fisher, of Cleveland, against Ben
Musgrove, of Ralston, for the recov-
ery of a horse sold to Musgrove some
two or three weeks ago by Nick Means
of Blackburn, was tried in Judge Des-
keet's court Wednesday. It was shown
bv the evidence that Means was au-
thorized by Fisher to sell the animal.

The commissioners of Pawnee and
Osage counties met in •session at
Cleveland the first of the week to
talk over bridge matters and other
important work. They have agreed
to put in a 170-foot steel ipan at Ral-
ston to connect with the remaining
structure of our wagon bridge. Pre-
liminaries are already under way and
active work will commence soon. The
