Attorney General Decides Title to Val-

MUSKOGEE: The allotment contest
case of Kerr vs. Schnell. a Cherokee cai >
over the possession of valuable oil lands
near Hartlesville haa been decided by the
attorney general of the United States In
favor of the contestee. The decision la
an important one, Involving the queatlon
{s to whether actual possession or as-
sertion of right to public domain gives
the batter claim. The cose has been
before the department for four yeara,
the department reversing Itself In Its
decision and the attention of the presi-
dent of the United States having once
been called to the contest.
The commission first rendered a de-
cision in favor of the conte.Uee. An ap-
peal was taken to the commissioner of
Indian affairs who reversed the ruling
of the commission. An appeal was then
taken to the department and on June 9,
1904, It affirmed the decision of the
commissioner of Indian affairs. A mo-
tion to review the decision of June t
was then asked for, and the case was
referred to Frank Campbell, first assist-
ant attorney general. Attorney General
Campbell rendered a decision rescinding
the action of the departmentl n uphold-

Cure by Cuticura.
"My baby was about nine montha
old when she had rash on her face
and feet, ller feet seemed to Irritate
her moat, especially nights. They
would cause her to be broken in her
rest, and aometlmea she would cry
until she was tired out. I had always
used Cuticura Soap myself, and had
heard of so many cures by the Cutl-
:ura Remedies that I thought I would
five them a trial. The improvement
was noticeable In a few hours, and
before I had used one box of the Cu-
ticura Ointment her feet were well
and have never troubled her since. I
also used It to remove what Is known
as "cradle cap" from her head, and
it worked like a charm, as It
cleansed and healed the scalp at the
same time. Now I keep Cuticura
Ointment on hand in case of any
little rash or Insect bites, as it takea
out the Inflammation at once. Per-
haps this may be the means of help-
ing other suffering babies. Mrs. Hat-

Fire Record for Last Year.
The fact that when a servant be-
comes master a cruel foe Is suddenly
developed Is attested by the dreadful
havoc and loss of life occasioned by
fire In the United States within the
12 months covered by a summing up
of these losses for 1906. This record
shows that nearly 7.000 lives were
lost and more than 1500.000,000 worth
of property was destroyed by fire dur-
ing that period. In no other country
the world Is the fire loss, In bulk
or pro rata, anywhere near our own.
I^ist year, owing to the devastating
tre that followed the earthquake in
San FraMiBco, this loss was in great
