MAKBIED
COBBKSHOKDEMCB.
Uut Tuesday evening, at the
home of tbe hride'i parents, near
H*ger, Mr. Cbarlea L. Crum led to
the alter Mis* Je«ie H. Mitta, where
Hev. D. A. Sanfoid, Rector of tie
rpincopal church, pronounced in a
very imprea«ive manner the beauti-
ful aetvice that unites their Uvea.
The dree* of the bride was of
cream heuriet'a cloth, trimmed in
cream ribbon and lace, ami her
dainty feet were encased in white
kid slippers. Miss JeMse was one
of Seger's pweetest young ladies,
and appeared none the less sweet
iu the lasty costume ao becoming
to her beauty.
Tbe groom was dressed as grooms
generally are, in black; and his tall
form, intellectual features, and a
countenance that is sure index of
good humor, mark him a fitting con-
tort for so charming a bride.
After lite ceremony, came the
banquet; and of thia it ia sufficient
to say that it was prepared by Mrs.
Mitts aud her daughter, Mae.
After supper, the guesta repaired
to the parlor,—and by the way, the
taste aud tkill displayed in the dec-
oration of that room, it a Credit to
the artista who designed and
did the work; green vines, pe-
culiar to our clime, with clnatera
of berries of different shades true
to the vine, were trained about the
windows aud the walla with a grace
that rivalled nature, aud when, in
the early part of the evening,
storm arose and rain poured down
in torrents, and frequent flashes of
vivid lightning followed by heavy
peals oi thunder, filled the air, one
could almost fancy the vinea were
olinging to their native trunks, and
begin to look for shelter.
Let no superstitious person at-
tempt to draw ill-omens from this
incident, for before the ceremony
had commenced, all was clear and
tranquil in the heavens and the moon
smiled brightly on the earth, and
seemed peeping through the light
window curtains, to enjoy the
scene. A few hours were spent in
congratulations, in jest and chat,
and viewing the presents which
were useful and pretty and some of
them oostly. Miss. Dettes was pre-
vailed upon to offer a solo which
she rendered so charmingly that
she wsa immediately called upon to
execute another which she did with
the graoc and oharm of an aocomp
limbed vocalist that she is. Miss
Bosserman, the accomplished organ-
ist of the Segtr Indian school kind
ly favored the party with an instrn
mental peioe of musio, which was
fully appreciated, and when the par-
ty broke up-it was the chorus, "God
be with you'till we meet again."
The bride is the daughter of the
Captain .and Mrs. T. J. Mitts, who
are well known,, not only in this
county, but the territory, aa well.
The groom is one among the
most respected young men of £1
Reno, aqd holds the important po-
sition of court stenographer for
Judge Burford, he is also a student
at law, and wflt probably be admit
•d to praotioe, in the aear future.
The young people started for
UNION.
Windy wrather, Sunday.—An-
diew Corben returned from KI Reno
Friday.—The Ml"* Hatchett and
Master John llatcbett were over to
IJaion Sunday .—J L Rogers aud
wife went to Clond Chief Sunday.
—J 9 Hatchett went to Cloud Chief
to attend court Monday.—Tom Bar-
bee haa gone to Chickasaw.—Ed.
Throckmorton returned from Tex-
as Monday; bis father came with
him and will probably remain all
winter.—S A Stout ha« gone to St.
Joe,. Mo.—The hour of holding
our Sunday school Iibm been chang-
ed from iu A. M. to 8 P. M.—Mart
Brown aud Skelton were dehorning
cattle, Thursday.
Maud Muher on a summer night
went out on her bike in the bright
moonlight. She pedaled around
from 6 to 10 on a trip that would
fag the strongest men; her heart
was light an<* her spirits gay, for it
wasn't wore, 'twaa nothing but
play. Next morning, however,
nhe'd a pain in her head, she was
all played out and staid in bed,
while her mother bm*iled in the
kitchen below—not to ride a wheel,
but to make tbiugs go. Though the
moining was hot and she worked
by the fire, she didn't collapse with
punctured tire. Alas for the girl
and the woman, set? Things are
not as they used to be.—Exchange,
