Blaine's School Teacher.
Topeki, Kis., Aug. 25. Miss
Sarah Crawford, of Kansas City
Kis., is visiting with relitivsa io
Wichita, and a reporter for a local
paper gained some details of her
hiftory.
Miss. Crawford is an aunt of the
late Governor John A. Martin,
and came to Kansas in 1855 with
Qovernor Mirtin's father. Though
95 years of ige, she never required
the services of a physician until
two years ago, ind uutil six years
igo she had never been on the cars
when she left Atchinson to msko
her home in Kansas City.
Before coming to Kansas, Miss.
Crawford lived at Browrttville, Pa.
where she taught school for many
yeirs- Among her pupils was
James G. Blaine, the eminent A-
mtrican statesman, and in his
msmoire she is Affectionately men
tioned.
The present trip to Wichita is
the longest Miss. Crawford ever
made on the can. Whin dhe "imt
