RELIGION AND P0LITIC3.
There is one thing religion has not
paid enough attention to, and that is
politics. Not that the church should
involve itself in politics or use itself
tor one party or another, but that
each individual member should be-
come thoroughly interested in public
affairs, and take part in the instru-
mentalities adopted for their direc
tion. There are the primaries—they
should be attended as a religious duty.
A man who will go to church and not
to the polls or primaries takes only a
half view of his Christian duty. A man
cannot have much ot a religious faith
If it lies dormant and does not get
out into the world of deeds. The
church ought to take some stand
upon this matter and terminate a
man's membership if he fails to at-
tend to his political duties. Govern-
ment is established by God and he
expects all who believe in him to do
their part in upholding it; and there
is no way of upholding it except upon
Christian principles. So a Chris-

can issue a policy on your wheat and other grains against FIRE and LIGHTNING
in SHOCK, STACK or BIN and allow privilege to use STEAM THRESHER. The
cost is so small that every wheat grower can afford the insurance, in fact, you can
not afford to do without it. The following shows the cost per $1,000 insurance,
from which you can estimate your crop.
1 mo. $2.00 2 mo. $3.00 3 mo. $1.00 4 m% $3.00 5 m<>. $(i.'K) 6 mo $7dO 7 mo $7 50
It is wortS the coil for protection while the thresher is in the field.
No application for you to fill out. No waiting for policy to become effective. Say
the word and I'll write your policy whi :h is good immediately, in an old line com-
pany that was doing business over a halt-century ago.
You should have Insurance the day your wheat is cut. It is not necessary for
you to come to town, just phone nie or drop a postal giving numbers of land where
the wheat is, amount of insura ce, and number of months.

A medical Journal calls, In fhe In-
terest of the public safety, for tne
examination not only of chauffeurs,
but also of all owners and private
individuals who drive cars. It i3
evident that the increasing use of
the motor car, both in business and
for pleasure purposes is introducing
a new problem, and that until the
individual conscience is educated up
to the proper recognition of mutual
rights, the danger in streets and
highways to life and limb will in-
crease uniesr adequate means are
founa to check it. This medical
writer* declares that the psychology
of the driver brings the subject ot
prevention of accident within the
range of medical advice on the sub-
ject of restrictions.
Unless there are some good army
mothers wlio, from Bheer love ot the
Hag's service, have done so, we don t
believe that any mother has raised
her boy "to be a soldier." However,
the pacifist song, with its cheap Benti-
meat is way beside tho mark. The
mothers don't raise ttieir boys to oe
soldiers, but, unless the past lies.
American motlierB are willing that
sons should be soldiers when there is
at stake a principle worth fighting
tor. No, they don t raise their sons
to be soldiers, but ninety out of every
hundred mothers would hold their
niotnerhood shamed If their boys
would not go soldiering when their
country ueeds them.
