Final notice is hereby given to
property owners or agents of proper-
ty in Riving District No. 2. of Ordin-
ance No. 4 49, which provides a pen-
alty for the violation of t'he same.
Section 1 of Ordinance No. 4 49:
That whenever any pavement is
about to be constructed upon any
of the streets of the City of El Reno.
Okla.. under which there is a water
or gas main. «t« h and every owner
of lots abutting upon such street
shall, before work is commenced in
the construction of such pavement,
connect hks lot or lots with such
*'ater or gas mains by means of a
standard double strength durable
lead pipe attached .o such main or
mains and extended to the street line
of his lot or lots; Provided such con-
nection shall be made to each and
• ■very lot upon which a residence or
business building is erected, except
where such building is erected upon
to or more lots, in which case only
one connection need be made.
Provided further, that where one
person ownes three or more adjoining
lots, upon which no such building is
erected, there shall be one connec-
tion for every three lots.
This ordinance will positively be
enforced.

severely injured >by a fall at the Rock
Island station last evening just as
she was entering the depot. She had
come here with her daughter, Mrs.
Pickens to visit her daughter, in this

the station building si pped on the
steps aad fell. She is eighty years
of age and on account o her age it
is feared the fall may lesult serioue-
ly.
Prohi'bitionists in Nebraska are ac-
tively at work with a view to mak-
ing the liquo, question the para-
mount issue in state politics. The
leaders o both the older parties al-
ready are being urged to define their
position in regard to the question.

Merchants Association resolutions
wore adopted agreeing to some of
the demands made by the clerk's tin
on as to closing hours and holidays
In fact the Retail Association went

addition to the four holidays men-
tioned by the clerk's union the
merchantf named a special holiday to
lie knoivn as Clerk's Day. On this day,(,
the dat' of which is not set, al' ,
stores will close.
No action was taken by he niei

union. The clerks want to unionize]
the stores and have asked for an
agreement to hire only union clerks.
Should this demand lie pushed there
will doubtless be conflict as a num-
ber of the merchants favor the open
shop.
