length of the leases which may be
made is limited to live years and they
must be ratified by the secretary of
the interior. This is an important
bill to the people of thi- county as
I here are several hundred quarter
sections of the best land in the county
that have been allotted to Indians,
that are now uncultivated and unim-
proved, which would soon lie settled
and put ill a li'gh state of cultiva-
tion if the white man was allowed the
use of it for a term of years. We
hope the hill will become a law foi
although several leases have been
made, the leasees have had li" assur-
ance before that they would he rat-
ified.
