study of the child,s own language, and
where it is faulty, teach the child to
remedy it by observation of correct forms.
Take the boy's own sentence for a sample
of his language and then teach him to go
ou grammatical expeditions through that
sentence, the object being to observe the
true thought which is expressed by the
sentence, rather than the adjustment of
the machinery of crunntar to fit his case.
In conclusion allow me to make an
apology for not treating chapter eight ex-
tensively as it is a most excellent chapter,
but as it relates wholly to the training ,
benefits to be derived from Latin and'
Greek and as those studies are us yet.
perhaps, an impossibility to the teachers
and nuulls for whom I am writing, I have
concluded not to go into their merits In
any degree. Suffice it to say. however,
that the author is right, and that the more
