A Cool, Sweet, Strong Stomach Your Best Safe-
guard Against Summer Sickness
Paris, Aug. 12.—The number of
prisoners taken so far in the allied
offensive in Pioardy is now estimated
at 36,000, including more than 1000
officers. More than 500 guns have
been captured, according to the latest
advicoK.
The pivot of the German resistance
at this stape of the battle, it now
appears, is the town of Noyon, a >out
midway between Montididier and Sols-
sons. The enemy is throwing in re-
serves from this base in an effort
to prevent, regardless of rost, the al-
lies from game control or the Woyon-
Ham road, which is choked with ma-
terial, guns and troops.
The Germans are expected to make
a desperate stand on the Roye-Noyon
line to permit the columns which are
retreating in the direction of Nesle
and Ham to reach safety.
The resistance of the Germans la
stiffening against the fourth British
army, under General Rawlinson. They
are reacting violently in the region
of Lihons which changed hands twice
during the night but which this morn
ing was firmly held by the British.
All the bridges across the Somme
between Peronne and Ham, a1 stretch
of about fifteen miles, have been de-
stroyed by allied aviators. The Ger-
mans have been attempting to throw
temporary bridges across the stream,
and the allied airmen are now sys-
tematically bombing these improvised
structurs.
All the morning reports show ex-
treme confusion a"iong the enemy
forces in the precinitate retreat.
Among the prisoners taken are
general, colonels, and officers of all
other grades. FVven divisions of
Generals von Hutier and von Maritz
have been identified by prisoners
taken. . *
"Keep your Btomach in good work-
ing order during the hot summer
months and you will have little to fear
in the way of sickness" the advico
many physicians -give as hot weather
approaches.
Good, sound, common Bcnse advice,
too. For very frequently, and especial-
ly in hot weather, these common stom-
ach disorders which so many people
seem to regard as of minor importance,
do open the way for serious illness.
So keep your stomach sweet, cool
and comfortable all summer long.The
extra war work—change of diet—poi-
sons that come with hot weather—all
hit us in the stomach. The strongest
Btomach will need help this Bumruer as
never before.
The one easy way if you have the
right remedy is to rid the stomach of
too much acid. Because it's superacid-
ity that interferes with digestion and
assimulation, and thiB causes about
all those stomach miseries you are so
familiar with—heartburn,food-repeat-
ing, indigestion, sour, gassy stomach
and that miserable, bloated, puffed-up
condition after eating.
Now here is good news. An easy,
sure relief has been found to get rid of
the harmful acidity and safes iu tho
stomach. It is called EATONIC, a
eood tasting compound that you eat
lust like candy. A tablet or two of
KATONIC after meals will work won-
ders. You can have no idea of what
sure, quick comfort EATONIC brings
until you do try it. Use EATONIC
after your meals, enjoy s good appetite
and get full strength from fhe food you
eat. At the same time protect your-
self from summer stomach and bowel
miseries.
Get a big box of EATONIC from
yaur druggist today. He will tell you
that people who have used EATONIC
say that they never dreamed that any-
thing could give such quick and won-
derful results. It costs only 60c a box
and if it fails in any way, your drug-
gist, who you know and truBt, will re-
turn your money.
Squeeze the juice of two lemons Into
a bottle containing three ounces of
orchard white, shako well, and you
have a quarter pint of the best freckle,
suuburu and tun lotion, and complex-
Ion whltener, at very, very small cost.
Your grocer has the lemons and
any drug store or toilet counter will
supply three ounces of orchard white
for a few cents. Massage this sweetly
fragrant lotion Into the face, neck,
arms and hands and see how freckles,
sunburn and tan dlsappenr and how
clear, soft and white the skin becomes.
