FULTON ENDORSES HASKELL.
Guthrie, Okla.. Oct. 6.—Congress-
man Fulton has finally been compelled
to face the Issue, and announce a re-
luctant endorsement of Governor
Haskell's administration. The repre-
sentatives and his managers were abl)
for some time to successfully keep
clear of this vexed and dangerous
question. To this end, no Second dls
trict congressional convention was
held, the managers knowing that the
resolutions adopted by such a conven-
tion would be forced to adopt a plank
endorsing the Haskell administration.
Failure to do so would haw been rank
party heresy, hence the failure to call
a convention and ratify the Fulton
nomination. This careful hedging was
a result of a well known and sharply
defined antipathy to the governor anl
anything that smacks of Haskell,
which prevails in certain heavy vote
counting sections of the Second dis-
trict.
But since the recent resignation of
the governor from the national treaa-
urership candidate Fulton has been
unable to further dodge the issue, an
comes out in a full endorsement of his
administration.
It is needless to add that this en
dorsement, coming at this particular
time, is hailed with unfeigned deligh.
at Republican congressional head-
quarters as an event well calculated
to make big Morgan medicine in the
district. For henceforth upon each
and every platform appearance of
Candidate Fulton he must assume the
role of a Haskell apologist and de-
fender, and as such must split the
Second district issue of his re-election
with a pleading for the governor and
the various acts of the recent legisla-
ture, all of which, it is anticipated,
will prove a load crushing to his hopes
of re-election.
