republicans of Canadian! county, he
will receive loyal support from the
party in this county .
Judge Gillette was the choice of
Canadian county republicans. In an
Interview he said:
"The republicans made a wi e
choice when they selected Joe. He is
a young ard bright and vigorous man
and will make good. I will give him
my hearty support."
Denris Flynn is going to get big
support in Canadian county from
present outlook. Charley Ticks, re-
publican nominee for the legislature,
will be elected over Cope, who seeks
reelection.

Lawton, Okla.. Aug. 14.—After hav-
ing drawn $400 from one of the loc. l
banks and started homo, while cros*
ing the Frisco yards Alva Groves, a
young farmer, was slugged ill th-3
head and robbed of the entire amunt.
Officers are at a loss to ferret out
the robbery. Groves can give no de-
scription of the man or clue as to
who might have known he had the
money. James Davis, a seventeen-
year-old lad, was with him at the
time. One man masked . did the
slugging and robbing.

presidential election in a manner that

sent out annourring that there will
be a meeting in the district court
room to organize a Taft and Sherman
club.
Members of the party are becon -
ing enthusiastic over the proposition
and the court room will be taxed to
its utmost to accommodate them.
This once organized, Guthrie will
have some great old republican rai-
lys. The best of campaign speakers
will be secured, bon-
and bands will hold
the party on to a rousing victory at
election time. If you are a good re
publican, get out and put" you enthus-
iasm behind this movement and make

ST. LOUIS MERCHANTS

GREATSOUTHWEST
St. Louis, Mo., Aug. 14.—Fifty-
three cities will be represented iu
the tour to be made by the Business
Men's League in a special! train
through Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri
and Kansas in October. Complete
plans for the trip were submitted by
the special excursion committee, com-
posed of J. E. Pllcher. W. Shapleigh
and JameB F. Coyle and adopted by
the executive committee. The tour
is for the St. Louis merchants to meet
their customers in the Southwest and
to put St. Louis to the front." gen-
eraly. Numerous receptions for the
tourists have been planned.
The tour is to be made with a Pull-
man vestibuled tralcl a dining car
and baggage car and a specially con
structed conveitno car in which re-
ception will be held and speeches
made. There will be a band on the
traltu of fifteen pieces. The start will
be made Sunday night, October 18.

sition to Joe B. Thompson, of Pauls
Valley. The latest entry Is said to

over a course twelve miles in length
is being arranged by local erithu i
asts. The state association was re-
cently made a member of the Ameri-
ca 4 Association and Its members are

sition to demonstrate that Oklahoma
State Is not behind other states in
the matter of automobile racing.
