PRAIRIE MAKES PURCHASE.
Some Facts About Production of Old
Wells in This Field.
The Prairie Oil and Gas company
has closed a deal for the purchase
of the R. N. Harmon farm of eighty
acres, with production, from Lucian
D. Ross of New York and George S.
Davis, of Pittsburg, Pa. Considera-
tion private. The Harmon property
adjoins the Prairie's Burger at Cleve-
land, O. T. There are three wells on
it, and a fourth is drilling. Although
No. 1 well was drilled in December,
lfM*4, and No. 2 and 3 in February. 1905
the three wells are still making 150
barrels a day. It is understood Ross
& Davis made a nice profit on the
sale. Thirteen wells over eighteen
months ago, averaging fiftv barrels a
day each, is a remarkable record, all
will admit, and yet it is not unusual in
this field. This explains in a degree
the over production or flooded con-
dition of the field It is little wonder
there is more oil than can be taken
of when it is remembered the little
Weber pool i-i still making 6,000 bar-
rels of oil a day and that the shallow
sand district of the Cherokee shows no
sign of let up in production.
Take a single well for illustration.
The Prairie Oil and Gas company
completed its No. 1 on the Berger at
Cleveland in October, 1904, and it is
still flowing 100 barrels a day. This
one well has produced already over
75,000 barrels of oil. Recently the
Osage and Oklahoma company con-
cluded to clean out its No. 1 well on
lot 94,Osage. Itwas making thirty bar-
rels a day. but was in bad condition
having been producing steadily for
two and a half years without atten-
tion. It was cleaned out and drilled
one foot deeper and started off at 150
barrels a day. That was two weeks
a<^o and it is still making 150 barrels
a dav. Arouud this well there are
hundreds of locations. Indeed, the
Mid-continent oil field is only in its
infancy: it has only been scratched
over.—Independence Reporter.

—The Oklahoma geological survey
party,under I'rofess-or Guild, that has
been* working the oil and gas fields all
summer, spent the greater portion of
this week between Pawhuska ami Bar-
tlesville. One very significant fact
that has been discovered by the sur-
vey this summer is that there is a
marked anticlinal field extending north
and south along the Osage-Cherokee
line. Practically all the producing
wells occur along this fold. In Penn-
sylvania and West Virginia geolo-
gists have located oil fields by tracing
out anticlinals and the same may be
done in Oklahoma. Members of the
survey express the belief that there
is a fold in the Coody's Qluff-Allu-
wee, aud it is expected that investiga'
lions a* to this will be made during
I the coming week.
