Free Scholarships.
Some time ago the business
men of Cordell "decided to pay
for five scholarships in the Re-
form academy. A subscription
list was started and the necessa-
ry fund was easily raised. Mon-
day evening a meeting was held
by the subscribers to devise a
plan by which these scholarships
would be distributed over the
county. J. A. Duff was made
chairman and J. A. Julian secre-
tary of the meeting. A. motion
prevailed that the Cordell school
district be allowed one scholar-
ship, the other four to be dis-
tributed over the county. These
schlorships wiH be given to the
students making the best grade
in a competitive examination to
be held by the faculty of the col-
lege. The place and time for the
examination was left to a com-
mitte consisting of J. A. Duff, J.
M. Armfield and Jno. I. Lee. A
committee was appointed to draft
a resolution to the Reform Colleare
Board showing the needs of a
dormitory at the college. It was
decided by a vote to name the
scholarship, The Cordell Business
Mens Scholarship. The distribut-
ing of these scholarships ough t
to increase the .attendance of the
at the college at least 50 percent.
