Cross Country season began last Thursday. Aug. 27, at the
Wynnewood Invitational. Lexington had 10 junior high runners,
with 9 of them receiving medals and 13 highschool runners with
10 of them finishing in the medal count. The junior high and
highschool runners ran 1.25 miles. The highschool boys ran
2.5 miles. The top 35 in junior high boys and girls, highschool
girls and the top 30 in the highschool boys all received med-
als. With 23 total runners entered and 19 receiving medals, the
Lexington Cross Country team, under the fine leadership of first
year Coach Mark Savage, has made quite a statement as to their
commitment and determination for 2009. There were 13 other
schools competing at the event.
Also in the medal count were High School Girls; Crissy
Joyner. 20th place. Adriana Lara. 28th Place. Jennifer Munoz.
17th place. Breana Poston. 18th place. Kelsey Ramb. 19th place,
and Brett Scott. 15th place. High School Boys; Chris Neale.
27th place. Austin Terbeek. 23rd place, Casey Voyles, 6th place,
Jonah Woodley. 24th place.
Other Junior High School standouts were Deann Newton.
8th grade. 7th place. Joseph Newton, 7th grade. 24th place and
Blayden Davis, 8th grade, 21st place.

American Legion Hosts Cook Out

I he American I .egion. Frazier Boyd Post 301, hosted a cook
out Saturday August 29, 2009, in Lexington. They served
hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, soft drinks, coffee and desserts.
Various Ixxington residents attended the event to enjoy a meal,
visit and sup|x»rt the organization American Legion members
would like to once again thank everyone who came out for the
fund raiser. I hey truly appreciate your support.

maintenance, utilities, equipment and expenses, as well as com-
munity service efforts such as Girl’s State, Boy’s State, promo-
tion and public support of American military personnel.....
Members of the American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary and
several volunteers worked the event. They would like to invite
all Lexington area residents to attend in the future, as well as
