Notice to attorneys, probate judges,
clerks of courts and others transmit-
ting homestead entries to the United
States land otlice:
Hon. commissioner of general land
otlice has advised this office that here-
after commissions will be computed at
the rate of $1.25 an acre instead of
an acre on all the lands situated in the
Cheyenne and Arapahoe country. In
consequence of this ruling parties mak-
ing homestead entries will hereafter
transmit $14.(10 even as a tiling fee, in-
stead of $14.80 as has been tho custom
heretofore on making application to
enter 160 acres of land. Excess on fil-
ings over 160 acres will not be collected
until final proof is offered when collec-
tions will bo made at the rate of $1.50
per acre.
Taking $1.25 per acre as a basis all
entries embracing more or less 160
acres, will lie charged commissions al
the rate of 2 per cent on the value of
lands.
It will be noted that this ruling in
no way affects the purchase price of
the land, to be paid when final proof
entry is made at the rate of $1.50 per
acre. E. g. sl'ir.man,
