A NATIONAL DISGRACE
(M X V reao tllls would have died on the dm-

I i: ni"'i been lor the American soldiers now
Uiown a disabled veterans."
They topped the enemy and his bullets. That
shortened the war ended it before more of the
folks back home were drawn into the casualty lists.
The lucky ones who came through the war un-
lit im.l are enjoying peace. But the war goes on
ri...rever for the disabled soldier.
In most cases his battle will last uMil his death.
K ' is a battle that he is fighting largelv
ilo:ic.
More than three years have passed since the
Armi uoe. The disabled war veterans far from CO
joyiti' the comforts that are rightly theirs by all
Jaw of decency again are compelled to fight for
pair square treatment b the national government.
The details of this fight are being told in the
rif-ws columns of the Ardraoreite.
The -ituauon discloses gross negleci and an al-
riiOst criminal stupidity in mishandling the disabled
tooidier-.
It becoming an old story. And it is shadowed
6i" tali; of 'national ingratitude.'
There is. however: no ingratirude. The Ameri-
can people stand ready to foot the bill for what-
ever is necessary to give .these men a square deal.
Responsibility for this national disgrace it some-
where ;n Washingtun.
Sc will call the kettle back. The buck will be
Tpasseci freelv between Congress and the Veterans'
Bureau.
The unscrupulous will coin political capital out
autrit situation.
After all is said .nd done the real trouble is
tWatttng but red tape and Stupidity Lt is unbeJiev-
gable that any American official or representative
fis volunurily throwing obstructions in the disabled
"veteran-' path.
What i- needed in Washington is a little com-
non sense.
In all the history of ur republic there never
JJiar beet a- b'.ack a disgrace as the neglect of dis-
abled veterans. The public refusing to believe that

How much moie uuickly people notice a foreign sub
stance in the City drinking water now tliun they did be-
fore Volstead. The presence of the harmless little synura.
which is a member of the algae family was noted lm-
mediately. Some people say the water tastes like cucum-
bers others that it tastes like onions and others have
discovered tbe flavors of carrots watermelon garlic llm-
burger cheese peanuts asparagus or vanilla lt seems
that the little synura is so versatile thai a person ca.n

past few days .1usr to see what it tasted like and to
