In Garvin County.
The Clllllland Oil Company of Tulsa
is drilling a test In tho northeast of
the northwest of section 2 2n-lw In
Ciarvin county. A standard rig has
been built nnd the well lias been 'spud-
ded. Tho start has been made with a
twenty inch hole which denotes that
a deep test will be drilled. This test
Is about 4a miles north of the N'ich-
oIhoii test in that county which found
showings that made It very interest-
ing. Rig Ibirned on Dillard Farm.
Tlie rig of the linker nnd Strawn
well No. 8 on the Dillard farm In
section 22 ss-2w was burned to the
ground at about 6:00 p. m. last Thurs-
day night.
The llro was caused by oil soaked
grass which led the flame from an un-
extinguished brush fire 300 feet away
to the cellar of the derrick.
The Magnolia Petroleum Company
was having some brush burned on
their location 300 feet north of the
Taker nnd Strawn well and the work-
men had left after they believed the
fire to be extinguished. However the
flames rekindled themselves and the
result was the loss of the derrick.
During the day the well was being
shot to straighten the hole and be-
gan to flow oil accompanied by a
huge spray. The spray soaked the
derrick timbers and Kurrounding ter-
ritory. The well reached the top of the
sand at a depth of 1400 feet und is
connected up to the flow tank.
The rig will be immediately rebuilt.
