of the A. A M. College of New Jersey
beats Murne Covans record and pro-
duces 1,288 pounds of butter, and an
other New Jersey, Holstein cow, Mabel
Segis Korndyke.l made an official
record of 6 pounds of button fat equiv-
alent to 6 and 3-4 pounds of butter In
one day:
One good dairy cow properly cared
for and bred to a good dairy sire and
her produce inteligently handled for ten
years will pav for a good farm with the
dairy prodncts sold and leave a dairy
herd on hand worth more than the
best leo acres in the panhandle of
Oklahome.
No animal on the farm will return
higher net profit on the amount invested
than a flock of good sheep, and if there
were as many sheep in the Panhandle
of Oklahoma as there should be farme rs
here would have no cause to complain
about the Russian thistle tearing down
their fences for the Bheop would take
care of the thistles in a way that would
make them a paying weed, whil* they
lasted at least. With the thistle under
control there would bo no excuse for
not rising hogs, as the only exedse oar
farmers make now is that tne thistles
prevent woven wire fences. 1 would
not expect our farmers to do everything
at on<* . but live-stock farming is the
solution of the farmers problems in the
panhandle counties, and the sooner
we g«t started right irt this busineea tbe
better The days of the scrub is num-
bered whether it be horses, cows, hogs

takee us to eliminate them. It will not
take 5iany years to eradicate tbe scrub
