A large number of- her friends stir-
prised Mrs. F. Ij. Molir Monday af-
ternoon with a party. The occasion
being Mrs. Mohr's birthday anniver-
ary. The other members of the
family had prepared for the event,
and the guests were royally enter-
tained.
Messrs. A Funk and N. P. Nelson,
of Burns, Kans., were here this week.
Mr. Nelson bought the old Walling
farm of Mr. Funk and the remaining
one year lease of Mr. E. Dunbar who
lives on the farm. Mr. Nelson will
move on the farm.
A breakman last Monday in jump-
ing from the local alighted on rough
ground tearing the ligaments holding
the knee-cap in place. Dr, Crenshaw
replaced the dislocated cap and the
breakman was taken to the hospital
at Springfield, Mo.
The rain Sunday was the best one
for the growing crops that has fall-
en during the season. Between three
and three and one-half inches fell
here. The rain was not general,
however, aud Mustang was in the
best of it.
The elevator has been busy this
vvetk, shelling and loading out corn

that is said to be very effective in
the destruction of the little pest.
Two spoonfuls of the liquid are plac-
ed in a quart of water and set in the
room with doors and windows closed,
The flies will all die in a few minutes.
The barn on 0. P. Johnson's farm
rented by John Record was struck by-
lightening Sunday evening and total-
ly destroyed by tire. Mr. Record lost
pome corn and hay and a large broot
sow in the fire. Lightening also I
struck the large new residence of J.
G. Weight two miles northwest of j
Mustang, tearing, a large hole in the j
side and stripping the walls of the j
plaster. Considerable damage was j
done to telephones.

Brindley and Guy Harnett have-actu-
ally played it. And Dick Todd who
obtained his knowledge of the busi-
ness on the streets of Mustang as
