in training at Camp Bowie.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas .Gilmer
have returned to Oklahoma City
after a t with Mr. Gilmer's sis-
ter Mrs. Charles Dobbins. Mr.C.il-
mer has enlisted in the service join-
ing the coast artillery and left today
for St. Louis. Mo. lie will be sta-
tioned at Jefferson Barracks. ;
A young man who is in the army
procured a marriage license Friday
to wed a young woman of another
county and returned the license to

they had discussed their marriage
and" determined to postpone it until
after the war.
Daniel IT. Bass who was to leave
with a number of other young men
enlisted for the coast artillery serv-
ice did not go yesterday but re-
turned to his home at Marietta in-
tending to join a party leaving from
that place tonight for Jefferson Bar
racks St. Louis Mo.
Lieut. Freeman Gait has returned;
to Fort orth Texas alter a short
visit with his parents Mr. and Mrs.
John L. Gait. Lieutenant Gait who
will soon enter the ground school
for flying at Austin has made sev-
eral flights and if the weather per-
mits will make his next trip home
by airplane.
Mrs. Jennie Lathrop has returned
from Gainesville Texas where she !
attended the ninetieth birthday an-
niversary of her mother Mrs. J. W.
Adams. There were thirty-five rela-
tives in attendance among whom
was Mrs. Adams' only sister who is
70 years old eight children live
grandchildren and two great grand-
children. Byron Gresham who has been in
the service since Nov. 20 spent yes-
terday in Ardmore. lie is en route
to Camp Hicks Texas from De-
troit Mich. Mr. Gresham was first
an apprentice seaman in the navy
was later transferred to the Great
Lakes training station and after two
months there was transferred to the
aviation branch as mechanic to give
instructions at the Liberty Motor
Company factor Detroit. He has
been transferred to Camp Hicks for
instruction in aerial gun work.

Brady Texas March 16. W. A.
Scarbrough 56 prominent farmer
was instantly killed and J. N. Boyd
blacksmith was fatally injured when
their automobile turned over near
here this afternoon. W. L. Rob-
bins was injured but will recover.
