MULKEY NEWS ITEMS.

Mulkey Okla. Feb. 25. The
week was a red letter week for
Miulkey in the war savings stamp
campaign. Possibly the 'youngest
stamp owner is Frank 1.. Stephens
sixteen months old. From savintrs
Jind money given to the baby by his
parents relatives and friends' $1')
had accumulated in his bank. This
mone ywas designed to be placed
in a bank but instead has been
invested in war stamps.
An auxiliary of the Red Cross
was organized in the Mulkey school
Friday. Miss F.dna Waters assist-
ant teacher is entitled to the credit
for this organization.
A district school council of de-
fense has been organized at Mul-
Key wun r.. . Mepnens presi-
dent Joe F. Anderson vice-president
and Murray I lender secre-
tary. Nearly every man in the
neighborhood has become a mem-
ber. Robert Michael teacher at Mul-
key has been preparing an agricul-
tural survey of the neighborhood.
Farming is proceeding very nice-
ly. A good many oats have been
planted .
R. M. Hunter will plant ten acres
of peanuts this year.
J. M. Fry reports his crop for this
year will be cotton corn peanuts
and cane.
Charles Brown is ill.
The council of defense will have
a meeting next Friday night. Speak-
ers from Ardmore will be present.

a steer. The throw missed and the
rope caught a limb on a tree when

Oscar Ice has retired from active
tarmiug and will move to Sault Ste j
Marie Mich.
Beinon Luflin has also retired
from farming and will devote his
time to the study of mineralogy lie

The general auxiliary of the F'irst
Baptist Church gave a Washington
tea Friday afternoon and night at
the home of Mrs. Budd Ballew. The
reception and dining rooms were
decorated with flags and bunting.
Patriotic colors were also used iu
the refreshments. An interesting
program was furnished by Misses
